POEMS has prepard account at Usd 20 per flat rate commission.

SCB going at 0.25% is already $25 for USD10,000 of equity trade. 10k trade value is really not that big for a regular trader.

So that means for trading any US stock, it is still better to use POEMS isn't it? Just comparing the both and I don't want to use foreign brokerages.

for corporate actions, you will receive a sms first before the letter. the good thing, you can just talk verbally for actions to be taken. the downside is the deadline will be shorter than the public.

just to share in response to the previous allegations about SCB having a single CSO attending to calls, etc.

i have called SCB trading hotline thrice. 100% of my calls are answered within 1 min. of course this is during "calm" trading hours. during breakdowns, even other brokers have problems with their jammed hotlines.

so whenever there is a breakdown, most likely to happen during a crash, its a good reminder for us NOT to panic and be so trigger happy.

but traders will be unfortunate during such breakdowns which they should have anticipated this problem earlier.

During crash how can dont panic. 50% loss on your investment is damm painful. must cut loss. Dont cut loss prepare to cold storage liao.

so when you need to cut loss during the crash, you cant.

Only elite BB can cut loss. You are stuck with a crashed stock broker?

im not sure about you. i will see the 50% fall a buying opportunity if there is no change in the company fundamentals.

you will average down?

How about first cutting loss. Broker fees only $25. Wait for it to hit half price and buy?

Why expose yourself to the risk?

Hi guys, i went down to SCB branch today to try and open esavers account together with a brokerage account.

Was told to deposit an initial amount of $1000 first for the esaver, which can be withdrawn within 1 week.

However, I am told that i am unable to open a trading account due to not fulfilling the requirements of 6 trades and other stuff. Is this the CAR requirements by MAS? And may I know where can i find the list of requirements to view? It dosent explicitly state this on the SCB website for online equities trading and I wasted a trip down.

Is there a way to get pass this to open an account so that I can DIY DCA Nikko AM STI ETF? which i understand is a EIP

1. SECURITIES SETTLEMENT ACCOUNT
2. SECURITIES TRADING ACCOUNT

i see 2 accounts in my SCB login. i can only transfer $ to SECURITIES SETTLEMENT ACCOUNT and after i transfer, i went Online Trading > Place a Trade> Purchasing Power => i see a $x

$x = $ in SECURITIES SETTLEMENT ACCOUNT - SUM(pending trade orders) - (all the clearing fee + 0.2 + GST)

OR

$x = $ in SECURITIES SETTLEMENT ACCOUNT - SUM(pending trade orders)

you can view them if you log into your online saving account and click 'trading account' at the left column, it will bring you to the online application page.

otherwise, there's a whole list of faqs here

What is the exchange fees mentioned together with the gst?

SCB mentioned about exchange fees. May I know what that is?
Just killed myself in Phillips futures FX. Really volatile.
Want to enter into the Stock market. It's somewhat safer with proper fundamentals. FX is a rich man's game. lol.
