The rules are there to protect you. I suggest if really never do online trading before, go and play with virtual money.

I still remember how nervous I was when doing my 1st real money online trading.

I already own some shares in sgx and even some foreign shares but do not have 6 transactions since I only invest smaller amounts and the cost is substantial for me.

no, the rules are there to protect the bank

so when they lose money, and go honglim park protest or go meet mp write letter, scb can show u the form, that u are knowledged, experienced investor and should know the risk already

the mas regulation is for listed sip( etc warrants and foreign etf) and non listed sip( etc cfd)

for shares, no need to declare whether u got experience or not because shares are not considered as SIP.

even if u do not have the necessary experience or qualification, if u really wan to trade sip, just take sgx online education test and the normal brokerage will just allow u access to SIP products (take note: shares are not sip products)

but for scb, they either super kia-si, or the rm just want to prevent any excess paperwork and so use this as an deterrent to those small fish, so the rm can concentrate on those big fish lahh.. they can even tell u, take sgx online education test also no use, cannot pass lol

Hey guys. I been look through this thread and see that SCB still does not allow to open account without passing CAR and it depends on the discretion of the RM. That is still true right?

Is there any way to open an account other than just buying a bunch of foreign shares on another playform first?
never check one lah.. just say you trade using with wife or parents account.

It will be linked automatically. Don't need to do anything on your end besides applying for the account.
