Performance Through June 2019
In June of 2019, The Dividend Aristocrats, as measured by the Dividend Aristocrats ETF (NOBL), had a stellar month on an absolute basis. And, it slightly outperformed The S&P 500 ETF (SPY) on a relative basis.

NOBL generated total returns of 7.1% in June of 2019
SPY generated total returns of 7.0% in May of 2019
Performance between these 2 ETFs for the first 6 months of fiscal 2019 is below:

NOBL has generated total returns of 15.6% through May
SPY generated total returns of 18.3% through May
Short-term performance is mostly noise. Performance should be measured over a minimum of 3 years, and preferably longer periods of time.

The Dividend Aristocrats Index has outperformed the market by 1.4 percentage points annually over the last decade Ė with slightly lower volatility.

Hi Mr Wood,

Can I check with you

1) which is the best broker to trade US shares or etfs, am currently on SCB trading platform.

2) i can only trade ETFs because of company policy, so a dividend ETFs is interesting to me. Where best can I see the past results of the ETF or what stocks the ETFs contain?

3) where is the best place to find "leads" to profitable etf counters.

Thanks!

I dun use local brokers for US stocks simply of the higher broker comms, custodian fees, monthly platform fees, dividends distribution fees etc etc.

no referral link, but I am using tdameritrade. no monthly fees

flat comms US$5 regardless of 1 or 100 shares

I dun understand wht u mean by because of company policy. can explain a bit more?

Morningstar and yahoo finance give free info such as distribution and holdings.
eg http://etfs.morningstar.com/distribu...&culture=en_US

Means the company I am working for don't allow stock trading. ETFs is ok though.

So i can only trade ETFs.

I see you are trading NOBL?

I’ll insert a periodic reminder here that dividend-oriented U.S. stock investing arguably makes some sense for U.S. persons, or at least it’s neutral. We U.S. persons pay the same tax rate on qualified dividends as on long-term capital gains.

For residents of Singapore who are not U.S. persons, no, that’s not true. You take a 30% tax hit on every dollar of dividends, but you pay zero tax on capital gains. It much, much better for you to have capital appreciation in your U.S. stocks.

Be very careful to draw inspiration from financial markets and global investing but then adapt that inspiration to your context, which could be different. Here it’s very different.
