Specifically from which period to GFC?

1900 to GFC can give different returns compared to 2000 to GFC.

2004 to GFC, after that US indices outperform from there.

1) 2004 to 2008 is quite a small period to sample
2) Sectors and regions do outperform in rotation
3) That period was a commodity boom period and thus, emerging markets did very well

More importantly what conclusion do you derive from this? Do you think DM will do better than EM moving forward? For me its simple: i dont know. Therefore VWRA over IWDA for me

EM is much more volatile in the short term.

In the longer term, I expect the returns to outperform the developed markets.
