Need advice for a new 8" android tablet

Hi,

I need some advice to select an 8" Android tablet. Use mainly for movies, reading, light gaming etc. Used to have a Samsung Galaxy tab pro 8.4 which served me well for ard 4 years. That screen is crisp and sharp compared to many screen nowadays, but has died on me.

Looking for a suitable replacement, LTE version, ard 500. Am considering :
1. Mi pad 4 ( no global rom)
2. Lenovo tab 4 8 plus ( have some issues with microsd card)
3. Huawei m5 8.4 ( maybe too ex ?)
4. Huawei m3 8.4 (2016 model- too outdated?)

Screen is important to me. The Samsung tab A series screen is quite fuzzy in my opinion. Preferably comes with expandable microSD slot.

Any advice which one I should go for considering the budget and where to get them? Or I should be going for other models (no iPad please)..

Thanks

Would S2 be too outdated? It's released in 2015...

You may want to consider Tab S2?

there is 2016 version for tab s2...using it for the past 1 year....still going strong and very good screen....

use it mainly for gaming, movies, online streaming and some light work mainly on pdf...

will be getting tab s4 soon mainly for work...but still keep the tab s2 for the above....if my tab s2 gonna die anytime from now (choi, touchwood), i will still quickly go get one more replacement....in case samsung stop production...cos simply the best 8 inch out there now....imho

I have been using the mipad 4 for almost two months now. No horse run. I have many tablets and they are lying around. After buying this mipad 4, I started loving tablet again. And I started back gaming on tablet. It is a joy to use. Very good battery life.

Screen wise it is good enough for me. I only have the wifi version which is good enough for me. For my sub-$300 purchase it is truly value for money. Don't let the absence of global rom and warranty deter you. For the price of a mipad 4. it is a play and throw-if-spoil thing.

Just make sure you buy the tablet with the original china rom and not some fake global rom. If the seller tells you playstore is already there, dun buy it. Just buy the sealed set with original rom. Then go to miui forum to find the instruction to download and install playstore.

Thanks for the recommendation, but it’s wifi version if I’m not mistaken. But the specs looks good.

Just went to Lenovo bugis to take a look at tab4 plus 8. Was quite impressed with the feel on hand. The sales person assured me that there is no issue with the micro sd. Tempted... Price is 469 for LTE.

Mi pad is ard 399 for LTE from SLS. Anyone knows what I can get one, sealed and unopened with the original China ROM if I were to install playstore myself?

Thanks

10.10 sales will be on at Q0010 in 2 days. Maybe the price may be attractive. Just check the listing to see if they give option for sealed set. Sealed usually mean they won't open it to install anything. Unless their china's partner so free......

Just ordered a mi pad 4 on qoo10. Specified it to the sealed. There's a 50 coupon for 10-10 promotion. Nett is ard 280, include shipping..

The additional discount is the deciding factor between a mi pad 4 vs Lenovo tab 4 plus 8...

Hope the tablet won't disappoint me...

Thanks to everyone for the advice

Why settle for miui, unlock your mipad and install treble roms from xda.

Good info with price and where to buy from. Useful for others looking at Mipad4. 11.11 could be the next buying window.

Mi pad 4. Best value for money. Can always install play store manually.

Sent from Google PIXEL XL using GAGT

Mi Pad 4 seems to be tempting, but there is also the Mi Max 3 which is not a tablet but a phablet phone. I bought the Mi Max 1 three years ago to try to migrate my kids from iPad Mini 1, that mission failed but it is still a good phone.

Between Mi Max 3 and Mi Pad 4, what is the main advantage for Mi Pad 4?
