HL is a quake zone now, better skip it for now. Actually Taiwan should be prepared for it. There are many minor quakes around HL in recent weeks.

My tw friend say hualien in very bad shape now. Suggest that you skip; also check with the minsu to see if they are willing to refund.
I booked hotel near hualien station. Lucky today is the last day for free cancellation. First 2 days stay taipei instead.

go 公馆. it is next to a university and feels like 师大, except better.
Agree. Its better to visit those small and non touristy night markets. Food is better and more local.

师大 used to be very big and interesting. Now is going downhill. Indeed many touristy night markets have become too commercial and their food too ordinary or lousy.

Strong aftershocks hit Taiwan after deadly quake

Going to 鯉魚潭,立川漁場,雲山水,兆豐農場. Apparently my minsu boss say it's safe in her area. one of my drivers says that it's safe in the places we going because it's in the 平原, and also that's because the places we r going to is not in the quake area.
