hua xi have the same stuffs as shilin??
Shilin and Huashi St is very different. Shihlin is great.

Kilin should be closer to LongShan Temple Station MRT:

http://home.trtc.com.tw/EINFO/bigmap.asp?number=bl5 Longshan Temple Stop

http://home.trtc.com.tw/EINFO/bigmap.asp?number=bl6 Ximen Stop.

To Town from CKS airport
Take Guoguang Bus or Airbus West to Taipei Main Station and then switch to MRT. Fare should be NTD110 per head. transfer to MRT to either Longshan or Ximen- The fare is NTD20 per head.

I was last in Taipei in 2000.

In my opinion, there's nothing at Huaxi Jie except you will see people 'playing' with snakes.
Nothing to eat also. Best to go to Shilin. You cannot walk to Shilin Nite Market from Kilin Hotel. You will be able to walk from Kilin to Ximending. And from Ximending, take the mrt to Chien Tan where Shilin Nite Market is. I hope this is clearer

Wufenpu is like Bugis Market. Best is to go in the afternoon. I was there once at night. Most of the shops were closed. But there are some shops opened. Well, the last time I was there, was to have 'chua bing (ice)'. There was an earthquake though!
You can alight at Hou.....something. Cannot remember the train station name. It is near to Sungshan Railway Station.
i agree, HuaXi street nothing...dun waste time..

WuFenPu is wholesale mkt selling clothes...go there after 4.30pm..can have dinner at Rao He night mkt which is nearbt. Take taxi..very cheap nia.

Summer Rock Festival

Ho-Hai-Yan Rock Festival is back bigger than ever
Set to take place from July 20 to 24, from 3pm, to 10pm daily, at Fulung Beach in Taipei County, Ho-Hai-Yan will once again showcase well-known acts on its main stage, while packing the second stage with performances by many of Taiwan's lesser-known alt/indie rock acts.

While the festival still pales in comparison in size to the major European summer festivals, the event has managed to become the nation's most popular outdoor festival. Last year an estimated 100,000 people flocked to the sleepy seaside town of Fulong to have fun in the sun and helped to make Ho-Hai-Yan 2004 the largest rock festival ever have been staged in Taiwan.

13.30 - check in and wash up

14.00 - leave hotel for xi men ting

16.00 - leave xi men ting for wu fen pu

16:30 - reach wu fen pu

19:00 - light dinner at wu fen pu

20:00 - reach shilin market

22:30 - retrun to hotel

is this plan feasible? cos i have only 1 day of free and easy.

Rao He night market still active after 4.30pm? If it is, then I can go later in the afternoon. No need to rush!

13 July – Wednesday
1.15pm – Arrives Taipei!!!
2.30pm – Check-in Hotel
3.00pm – Taipei Metro Station + Xin Guang San Yue + Guang Hua + Sung Chiang (will take MRT from Taipei Metro to Zhongxiaoxinsheng)
7.30pm – Dinner with friend at Zhongxiao Dunhua
The idea is ok but i suggest u head to Guang Hua b4 going to Xin Guang San Yue and Sung Chiang...Becoz Guanghua is the nearest to ur hotel i supposed. Btw which hotel r u staying?

Wake up by 8.00am
9.30am – Arrive at Beitou
Hot Spring (about 2 hours)
Hot Spring Museum (about ½ an hour)
Walk around Beitou
12.30pm – Depart for Tienmu + Lunch
3.00pm – Take MRT to Danshui
Shopping, walking around, look at Scenary – Lao Jie
Go to Yu Ren Ma Tuo (take bus Red 26)
7.00pm – Watch Lover’s Bridge light up
7.30pm – Depart for Shilin Night Market + Dinner
For your 1st part of the day, I think u may have lotsa spare time because i think for Hotspring an hr plus is more than enuff liao...But its always to be ahead of time ...
Oyar...the hotsprings are at Xinbeitou MTR STN not Beitou MTR...For the later part of the day shldnt be a prob...U will tend to spend 3hrs plus to 4 at danshui ...Btw if ya at yurenmatou and ya thinking of heading back to Danshui, take the boat...The queue wont be that long at that timing...

15 July – Friday
Wake up by 8.45am – Buy unlimited MRT pass
9.00am – Breakfast at Guting (Ding Tai Feng)
10.00am – CKS Memorial Hall – Take Photo
10.45am – Lungshan Temple – Optional
11.15am – Ximending + lunch
3.00pm – Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall – Take Photo
3.20pm – Taipei 101 + New York New York + Warner + Wufenpu + Raohe
7.30pm – Huaxi Jie (look at snakes) – Optional
8.00pm – Shilin Night Market, OR
7.30pm – Ximending until about 10pm then head to Shilin Night Market
8.00pm – Shilin Night Market
Yup initially i keep thinking Dingtaifeng main branch is at Guting but i was wrong...Its at Yi Xing Road...quite far away from Guting MTR...Better take a cab there..i took a cab from guting...it costs 70NT. As for CKS memorial hall, make it apoint of staying there to watch their changing ceremony, not bad like our singapore's military police. It happens every hourly.Timing wise shldb 9am,10am,11am,12pm etc etc...Ximending nothing much really...After Wufenpu u can either head back to hotel to unload or go straight to shilin...Other than that the plan shldb able to work...Oyar Wufenpu u can go around after 1630 ... More shops will be open...

16 July – Saturday
Wake up by 7.00am
7.30am – Take MRT to Hsin Dian, take bus from Hsin Dian to Wulai, OR Take bus
from Taipei Railway Station
9.00am – Arrives Wulai for sightseeing
Cable Car + Yunxian Park
12.30pm – Depart Wulai to Taipei
2.00pm – Arrive Taipei Metro + Lunch
3.30pm – Head to Keelung
10.00pm – Return to Taipei (Bus Ticket approximately NTDD45)
Ur Saturday will be very rush...Alot of travelling time wasted...Not viable jus to go Keelung for their night market coz the journey is kinda long ... Perhaps ya wanna fine tune this day alittle bit? Btw any particular reason for not keen on Jiufen/Yeliu?

17 July – Sunday
9.00am – Breakfast at Taipei Metro + last minute shopping!!!
11.45am – Depart for airport
2.20pm – Flight back to Singapore
[/QUOTE]

This plan is everybody's plan!haha

I'll be taking the train to Beitou and there's a shuttle bus to Xinbeitou. May go direct to Xinbeitou. Depends on the day itself.

I think my first day (14 July) is kinda wasted. Spending one whole day up north. But it seems like a waste of time to go for hotspring, return to city then to Tamsui. How long will the journey take (by mrt) from Taipei Main Station to Beitou?
