I think you can try 国光饭店. It is located in a small lane in Ximenting but it looks okie to me. Royal Castle is quite far from Ximenting may a bit troublesome to move your language around. Santos is quite dar away from Ximenting
I stayed in this 饭店 when I was there in Oct. 4 of us stayed in one room and it is cram. Only one small path to walk from the door to the bed. But have to say that the service provided by the staff is good. And the location is great, we walk around ximenting every night.

hi globe,

from my encounters, usually agencies doesnt have quotes tat early... normally price list will be out about 1 to 2 months before....

how many days u intent to stay in taiwan?? is it a FnE trip or a guided tour ??
if its a 5D/4N stay in taipei.. it would be quite little ex
or if the price quoted for 7D/6N... then u got a nice deal.

anyway.. u have to see wat the agencies offer for the package.. eg, wat kind of hotel they offer?? any transfer to and fro from airport to hotel via... any breakfast provided... and wat flight they offer.. all this added cost to ur trip.

feel free to ask more info from the agencies wat they offer..

merry xmas

return CI flight
+ 2 way transfer to and from hotel and airport
+ 4 morning breakfast
+ 1 city tour (going to jiu fen, beitou spring bath, yeliou and shilin nite mart)
+ airport tax

I am so jealous of the great pics some of you had taken..

It rained all day when I was in Yeh Liu, Kee Leung, Jiufen, Jingguashi last month

And when I went up to 101, it was quite hazy too..

Nevermind, will visit there again...

2nd day, Do Jioufen, Jingaushi first then Beitou (After all that walking, it will definitely feel better) To get to Jioufen , Latest :
By train to Rueifang then: Posted by Titaniums at TA:
At Rueifang train station you will see a small shop selling snacks, etc. PEOPLE, get your Jinguashi Admission Ticket here. It cost NT80 for off peak and notice that at the bottom right side of the card there are four cloumns that you can tear out. You can take FREE rides within Rueifang for 4 times with that. The driver will tear one at a time when you board the bus, just pass the green card to him. It saved us the bus money when we did that. We took the bus to Jinguashi to see the history of goldmining but its a pity we missed the slot to dig for gold! I think they have 2-3 times slots i only remember the one at 2.30pm. After that we used the same card to travel down to Jiufen and bought many Taiyang Bing! After that we used the same card to return to Keelung.

3rd Day: Shopping in Miramar is not good, overly expensive; For comics you can try the Guanghua Elec Market, (Downstairs) MRT stop Zhongxiao Xinsheng- Exit 4, turn right to traffic lights. After this, you go to Zhongxiao Fushing And the Zhongxiao area is also nice to shop, better than Miramar, Or to Hsinyi area, Warner Village, e.t.c.
IF you drop Day 3: You can do Sun Moon Lake.
First train to Taichung is at 5.45 or so, have to check again.
Then take the tour: Contact them on your arrival here and tell them pickup at the Taichung Train Station:
http://www.taiwantourbus.com.tw/engl...il.php?uid=133
Return to Taipei in the evening.

4th day: Latest on Janfusan:
You can checkup info on Janfusan here:
http://www.janfusun.com.tw/html/C01.htm
Time by train / Bus combination about the same - 4 hrs
Bus cheaper as well.
Contact Ms Chen in Taipei: Taipei Ri Tong bus Co: -23119017
By Bus to Janfusan Return: Fare Adult:NT650 Kids: NT440
Admission Ticket : Special Rate : NTD599 for all. (ONly from this company as far as I know)
Departs Taipei Every hour from 6.20am to 11.20am
Return : Only one bus : at 17.30pm

Hi everyone,

I just came back from Taiwan. Thanks to this forum, I enjoy the trip and got quite good deals.

I would like to recommend a minshu which i stayed for 2 day for NT900 per nite + a very good location with lot of things to walk at night. The lady boss is extremely nice and the NT900 per day was definitely worth it. She fetched us to and fro the train station, and a nice breakfast is included. She even help us to book train tix and collect them from the station. It very value for money.
you can go to this website and give her a ring. This is highly recommended. I took my chance and this was a very unknown minshu but it turn out very good.

As for touring in Hualien, I went to this Taxi driver , Mr Chen Guang Xi who is recommended by a fellow forumer here. Although he is slightly more ex, but he was worth every single cent we spent.

I also went to Hsinchu. Anyone who is planning to go there can go to this hotel which is also quite cheap and just next to the train station. hsinchu is a nice place almost as crowded as Taipei.
