I'll be staying in Rainbow Hotel in Xi Men Ting.. what is the fastest way and roughly how much it costs to transfer to my hotel?

The NT700 hotel sounds exactly like the Queen Hotel my friend and I stayed. It's at Chang-An West Road just north of Taipei main train station and their staff claim they are the cheapest hotel in Taipei. It's listed in the Lonely Planet as well.

If you are travelling alone, you can get comfortable dorm beds in hostels for around NT500. The Taipei Hostel even provides free broadband internet access if you have your own laptop.

Hi, Happy New Year

Best current method is via Free Go Bus Company - Fare NTD140/-
They will transfer you to a smaller vehicle in the city and take you to Rainbow. They will also give you a card, and you can call them a day before for pickup for departure.

If you take Free Go Bus (Fei Gou), I think you're entitled to a 15% discount on the Airport-Taipei shuttle if you pick up the free Tourist Pass at the airport.

Last I checked on Wed, Airbus (Da You) charges NT100 (cheapest) from Taipei City to airport - not sure if it is the same vice versa. Airbus departs on 30-minute intervals though.

Meant to post this earlier. Overall, very happy with my stay in Taipei. It was very cold especially in Jiufen. I got a cold and had to rest in the hotel for 1/2 day.

Saw Jolin Tsai and 2tomoro .Jolin was signing for her new book.

For Spa, I recommend this Tai Pin Yang Spa. There is a store just outside Xin Bei Tou Mrt Stn. The package for a private room is like 1099Nt or 1199Nt. Relatively Cheap.

Rainbow Hotel is located centrally but I have to tell you that it is really noisy. 3AM still got ppl shouting here and there. If you are a light sleeper, suggest you use some ear plug.

To buy comics and dvd, vcd dramas , AV etc etc. They have shifted but not really far. Had to past abt two streets after getting off from Zhong Xiao Xin Sheng Mrt Stn.
