hi all..

if i'm heading over hualian to visit taroka gorge and return back to taipei in evening..should i book my train tix myself and go there to look for those tour buses or it would be better to book w an travel agencies in taipei? are those agencies easy to locate in taipei?
How aMany travellling with you, it will make a difference in costs.

do u all feel that taiwan safe for two to travel?
cos me and my gf actually looks like 18++ and not our actual age

cos me and my gf actually looks like 18++ and not our actual age
quite safe to travel in taiwan.. people around are quite warm and friendly..
ermm btw wats u and ur gf age hehee..

Gerenally it is safe. Just the usual : hold on to your bag/wallet in crowded place, don't flash your cash, etc.

Some tips from the local guide:

Not that we will do it there, but avoid all politic discussion. If you can avoid, move away from people giving something that look like political material

If your gf like to call you Lao Da, it is time to change as well.

understand that rainbow or onestar and those 100bucks region hotels have no safe in their room..
so do u guys prefer to carry passport yourself? or is there a safe at the reception? what bout cash? walk ard with a all of your money?

okay serious now..

wat i see on streets tat .. hawker at streets will oways standby looking out for officers.. so they will run..

so cautious tat u get ur goods then give the cash..
i haven met any yet .. but tis is wat i observes.

overall condition still Okay friendly and warming.!!

in any case...

who have tried before 明日大饭店 (future stars)? what about 国光饭店 (good ground)? how is it?
would living near xmd area or taipei main station area be better?

To nuttyazn:

I deposited my passport with the counter safe in rainbow. As for cash, carry all around loh, not much also. 20k

Which travel agency did you book?
go free and easy should be cheaper no matter whh agency u book with?
juz read thru this thread frm pg1 and u r ready to go w/o any tour guide
