We took a free and easy package at 552 incl taxes, breakfast and hotel (3 nights at the emperor). It's not a bad deal. Flying by EVA air.

We plan to visit the nightmarkets and muesuems , danshui, keelung, beitou, jiefung (sic?) and
since we are extending by another 2 days, we plan to stay one night at sun-moon lake as well.

Enjoy your trip !

Do the 101 first- take outside pics e.t.c.until it opens.
After you finish there, take a slow walk down the road pass the TWTC Hall 3, to
Warner Village, NYNY, Neo19, and opposite the road to Singkong Mitsukoshi

Now you have returned to Keelung in the late evening, then head for Miaokow Food Street andafter your Dinner, you can stroll
around the Keelung before returning to the hotel later by Bus or train.

Hi nuttyazn,

Your posts are very informative. Nice itenary up there, guess I'll follow it for 5 +/- of my days. I'll be heading down to Taiwan this summer for 7D6N.

Thinking of going down Hualien or even Alishan if possible for the remaining days. Any reccomendations for the above? Thanks!

Thanks . Glad to be of help.

Hualien is possible:
You got to catch the early train to Hualien:
Book to return the same day,you get a 10% discount.
Tze Chiang 1051 Mount Taipei 06:45 Hualien 09:37 NTD445 one way
Tze Chiang 1053 Mount Taipei 07:10 Hualien 10:02 NTD445

You can go early and shop around for a good tour if you like or book the
tour once you are here.
http://www.taiwantourbus.com.tw/engl...ail.php?uid=61
You can get an idea of places to visit from the tour guide above.
Forumer here got a cabby (Toyota MVP) and did the tour of
Toroko and other places (Driver was Licensed).
Cabby details:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/nuttyazn/card.jpg
(Ever since he posted this info here, I have passed on this card to
other forumers travelling to Taiwan in other forums. Me Chen is now a busy man
and extremely reliable ,socalla few days in advance)
Now he charges NT1800- for the day tour. Max 4~5 people - still cheaper than others there-
so more in your group, less cost per head. (Guided bus tour now costs NTD600/- half day)

Tze Chiang 2042 Hua-lien 17:24 Taipei 20:35 445
Tze Chiang 1058 Hualien 17:59 Taipei 20:58 445
Tze Chiang 1060 Hualien 19:00 Taipei 21:40 445
Tze Chiang 1080 Hualien 19:28 Taipei 21:45 445
The above are the trains for your return.
Hualien:
http://tour-hualien.hl.gov.tw/english/index.htm

Alishan requires you to spend a night there to see the sunrise, but the last few forumers were "clouded" out.

You can also do Sun Moon Lake in a day - returning to Taipei in the evening. (The tour needs Min 4 people)

They have one day tour's starting from Taichung at 8.30 in the morning. To get to Taichung early by train:
Type: Chu Kuang # 11 Depart Taipei 05:15 Arrv Taichung 07:49 NTD289
(Check times when you are here)
http://www.taiwantourbus.com.tw/engl...il.php?uid=133
Return by train or bus in the Evening after the tour , They have 24 hrs buses from Taichung to Taipei so you can visit the Fengjia Night Market before your return ifyou want, different food from Shihlin.

Hi Guys,

First Day in Taipei - XMD - 國*飯店

Room - not Bad la, but was assigned at lvl 4...lucky got lift.

AIRCON - Cannot make it. left the aircon on the past few hrs, seem that outside is much cooler than my room, then I went to the reception N KP abt it. I was told tt someone will come n fixed it, in the end Nobody came, but phone rang n came a reply..

"i guess U are the only one who feels that is not cold, we cant do anything as it is on the central controlling" " the best solution is to chg room"

???

I shifted from LVL 4 to LVL 2.

guess what ??

after room changed, Room is much more cooler. and most imptly able to use the wireless connection from mY room!!! +++

For those coming here to stay ard this area.
this is FYI

after arrived at CK int'l airport > Look for Guang kuang bus transport - bus fare NT$125
Just wait for the final stop @ Taipei MRT station > next go to basement > if u are able to find the control station - then u are right > Buy tix n take the MRT towards XINPU BLUE colour line, alight one stop @ XIMEN.
EXIT NO 6
it will see MAC, somewhere there is a small lane turn LEFT. u will be able to find this hotel, R*inbow is somewhere ard the corner too.

I guess there's all for today

Ciao

I think the aircon is central and at this time of the year, they have turned on the heating instead. we just bturned off ours and opened a window instead ; presto, same temp as outside.

Btw, we had beef noodles at a shop in shilin and it was so bad i threw up!

Beef Noodle- You ate in the wrong place , friend!!

Exit 4 of Ximen MRT, Walk into Hengyang Rd Keeping Right. First major street: Taoyuan St. Walk to the end on the Left side. You see the guys preparing the beef noodles outside. Try their Hong Sao Niu Ro Mien. These chaps have been here for about 25 years.
