Baguio rooms are a bit small. Istayed there before, and a bit out off the way since most Singaporeans like to stay around Ximenting. Ask the Agent for Hotels around XPA. East Dragon, Royal Castle, Stars (One Star) . Agents have limited amounts of room each.

Many forumers call the Hotel Direct and got bookings.

thanks nutty! just replied to my agent to help me to look out for the hotels u mentioned. i also told my agent abt the vacancy of the rooms shown on online booking and she said their agency was allocated certain numbers of rooms, once the number had reached they cant reserve anymore!! .......

thanks so much NUttyazn! Probably I would be coming Taiwan for about 10 days, planning to go Taipei, Taoyuan, Taizhong, Hualian and some nearby areas in the upper half of Taiwan.

Any suggestions to what places that we should not miss in Taiwan?
And we are interested to go clubbing in Taipei. Any suggestion? Thank you so much!

Rob
Just checked on the Fortnight Ticket : Fare is NTD1706 per person. You have to travel in One direction - 7 stops of your choice , no restrictions on trains.

No doubling back, you can start From Taipei to West and come around back via the East or vice versa. Taipei Kaohsiung return is about NTD1600+ Taipei Hualien return is about NTD800+ So this is really worth it if you are going round the island and have the time to do it.
So you could Do something like :
Taipei-Taichung-Chiayi-Kaohsiung-Pintung-Taitung-Hualien -Taipei
(Side trip in Taichung , you can go to Sun Moon Lake) (Side trip in Chiayi you can go to Alishan

I never knew that they had this type of Ticket, found out about it by accident.I always find information by Accident!!!

No, Some of my friends here are surprised at the rates we are getting. Locals just walk in and dont look at the websites e.t.c. especially the Older folks and pay full fare, no discount.

HI,
Hualien is in the East and Sun Moon Lake is Central. There is no Public transport to go there. Cabbie can cost NTD4000+ (Forumer Liebe took cabbie from Chingling to Hualien one way , paid NTD4000/-
Train Via Taipei.
How many days are you here in Taiwan. You can do a One day trip to Sun moon lake. What other places (cities) do you intend to visit.

Hi all the Taiwan Experts here,

I'm going Taipei with my hubby thru Jetstar this August (7D6N). I know its too early to plan anything now but just wana to go thru this thread slowly 1st and take my own sweet time in planning. The places I intend to cover will be as follow....
1) Hualien (preferably 2D1N trip)
2) Those popular Memorial Halls & Museums, Taipei 101
3) KeeLung, Jiufen, Ruifang
4) Beitou, Danshui, Yu Ren Ma Tou
5) I shopping Day at XiMenTing/ShiLin Night Market
6) Last min shopping at anywhere
DO I miss anything???

I want to plan Yu Ren Ma Tou on Sunday becos Monday is my hubby's birthday. So I intend to have a romantic BIRTHDAY countdown celebration with him there...hehehe..Any suggestion of what I can do and plan at that place? Romantic dinner.....etc???
