f there is Typhoon, would all the indoor shopping areas be closed?

also one more qn...is it better to go sightseeing and shopping during weekdays as compared to weekends?

Are there any places which are only open during weekend and not weekday, something like Chatuchak in BKK?
typhoon qn i cant answered as i went recently, it was DAMN hot!!!!

IMHO,
weekdays are for sightseeing...
& weekends are better for shopping and touring around night markets as these places are crowded in wkends. REALLY crowded~

from what i know now, night markets open everyday, just that they may be closing early ard 12am during wkdays cuz not much ppl. Some places like Wufenpu prob is best to go after 3-4pm...

wah, that Pai Yueh sibeh solid leh hahaa.....
look at this bed:

anyway, just called in and a lady picked up. She only get my surname and put down note that I'm from Singapore, not even getting my handphone, nor email address, not even full name. Like that can considered "securedly booked"???

One thing I like is the 24 hr free internet service, not sure if it's still available, forgot to ask.

The one I booked is NTD980 per day.

by the way, she says, not more than 10 mins walk to the MRT.

now I panic liao, how am I going to reach this place ??? dun even know which MRT station it's nearest to.

so anyone actually know whicih MRT is this hotel near to?

Erhm imho, i didnt really find it very useful

but do take note to apply the prepaid sim card (a balance of NT$99) for free at the handphone rental shops in CKS Airport. One passport for one card.

the shop is on your left when u check out from the arrival gate, near to the tourist service counter where u collect the maps etc.

OMG i actually read through all 285 pages.....it was really very useful.

Am planning to go taipei in september. realised from previous pages, not a lot of people do Yeliu, Shifen & Jiufen together in 1 dae.

Am planning to cover all 3 places then back to taipei shilin market at night. Is it feasible?

My plan:
Yeliu
- Take a Kuo Kuang (02-2558 3060) Bus from the North Station of KuoKuang
- Go out by exit 1 at Taipei Main STN.
- Go in Yeliu must pay NT50
- Stay for maybe 2 hrs
- From Yeliu take a Keelung Bus to the Keelung Main Station.(last stop)
- The bus stop can be found opposite the bus stop u alight at Yeliu.
- Trip cost NT44

Shifen
- From the front of the Keelung Railway Station (will see starbucks and burger king) take a Keelung Bus to Ruifang. (NT50)
- 遊客可在瑞芳火車站轉車搭乘平溪線火車,在大華站或十分站下車,沿著鐵路步行約15分左右即可抵達十分大瀑布。
- Stay for maybe 2-3 hours

Jiufen
- From Shifen take train back to Ruifang.
- Reach Ruifang, across the street take bus to Jiufen (NT19, 10-15 minutes ride)
- If wan to go Jinguashi then purchase the admission ticket (NT80) from Ruifang
- Stay for 2-3 hours

Take train back to hotel then go to Shilin night market

is the above feasible? and is the order correct as in go yeliu - shifen - jiufen or should i do it differently?

appreciated the help and advices.

yes you are correct. this is should be the order of touring..

JingGuashi is just nearby from jiufen..so maybe you can add it into your itenerary.
And what about Miao kou Night Market?? Not planning to go there?

If you are able to reach Shihlin Night Market by 10pm then you probably have time to explore the whole place.

hope it helps

taipei station => yeliu ----- 40-50mins

yeliu => ruifang ------- 30-40mins

ruifang => shifen ---- according to the departure and arrival timing on website, it will take around 30mins.

ruifang => taipei station ------ taking train will need around 40mins and it's faster, cost NT$80/pax

Cash is needed for bus rides (no change is returned), so do keep quite a few NT$1, NT$5, NT$10 and NT$50 coins.
If there's any error, other members please correct me

Such bus rides can use the EZY link card right?
BTW, how does the card work? Similar to Sg? Tap at front upon entrance and tap at back upon exit?

Is Jiu Fen the same as Shi Fen?

Also, I thot Jin Gua Shi is more for gold mine...waterfall is mainly at Wulai, which is only accessible if you drive?

Bus rides around yeliu, jiufen those places need to use coins as they are not the public buses in Taipei area. Hence, the Easycard cannot be used.

Normally in practice, you tap the card (yes, just like our ezlink system in Singapore) upon alighting at the front door. The only card reader mechanism is beside the bus driver.

Shifen is different from Jiufen.
