I arrived at Jiufen on a cold, rainy evening. Walking through the old streets, I can really feel for it and especially after knowing its history, I can sort of visualise its past and certainly begin to feel very strongly for it. I dunno, it seems to have a very strong pull on me.

When I came back, I went around many video shops looking for this movie "A City of Sadness" 悲情城市, but its really sad, not only do the shops not have it, none of the people have ever even heard about it.

It was quite famous at that time, I'm sure. It starred Tony Leung and had been nominated for some awards.

Anyone knows where to get this movie?
Hi,

I have my feelings for 九份 too, 欣赏它的凄美, 惆怅和一份孤独.

悲情城市 is a very old film , directed by 侯孝贤 in 1989 and during that period had earned numerous reviews and bagged some awards for both the director and Tony Leung, you can try getting it online from : http://global.yesasia.com/b5/PrdDept...ection-videos/

High five to windchime.

Thanks for the link. But would still prefer to get it locally if possible. Troublesome to buy online plus there is shipping cost involved and custom clearance etc.

Hope someone comes along and tell me s/he knows where to get it locally.

oh... thanks for the link... ... do feeback on the taipei hostel...
me back from taipei today!

well the hostel was a bit out of my expectations, very small backpackers' place. it's only S$25 for a room for 2, however the room is only the size of the double bed (!) & common toilet look like those old old type with lizards lurking around. only recommend if u r on very strict budget

anyway i moved to Flowers Hotel (opp Taipei Rail Station) on the 2nd day, must say that that area is really good! it's a hangout for young pp so got a lot of cheap food stalls/restaurants/cd shops, even got this kmall (sells digital goods) & Jap dept store (Xin Guang San She). Nearby is a bookshop street with abt 4-5 bookshops.

stayed in taipei total of 6 nights

managed to go to their CNY goods mkt (Di Hua Street, close to Taipei train station) which was just opened this week. quite interesting, got v good CNY mood! managed to catch a few celebrities like that Marguerita (the russian girl on Zhong YI Da Ge Da) & Aisha there filming. However, the things at the mkt not cheap, most of the goodies costs abt S$10 or more...

very nice weather there now, although this morning was raining...

It could be my ISP ( I'm on qala) or perhaps DNS error, both websites simply will not load for me? Any others having problems accessing these websites??
