For shifen:-

correct me if i'm wrong, but from memory :-

Take train from taipei -> Rueifang. Take train from Rueifang -> Shifen.
Anyone know it is better to go Shifen 1st then to Jiufen or since we need to change a train at Rueifang, we should go juifen then shifen?

beside this, the railway website didn't state tat there is train from Rueifang to Shifen... izzit from another train service?

I would say go shifen first since the area is more on scenery. jiufen is more on street shopping + scenery so if u go early, most of the shops might not be open yet. but if u intend to 放天灯at nite, then should do the reverse.

so, just take train to either station, you walk out, there will be shops selling these lanterns, buy from them and just light up and let go? Or must walk a long way to the place for lighting the lanterns?
