This thread is really great! I spent the past few days reading all 480+ pages! Thanks for all your help in planning my itinerary. I would like to share the result of reading all these pages.

Day 1
- Check in @ Wonstar
- Miramar
- Shilin NM

Day 2
- CKS Memorial
- SYS Memorial
- Zhongxiao shopping area
- Wufenpi
- Raohe NM
- Eslite 24h bookstore (if time allows)

Day 3
- YMS
- Beitou
- Danshui
- Yu Ren Ma Tou
- KTV @ XMD

Day 4
- Longshan Temple (Just the temple, not interested in the NM)
- Taipei Cityhall area (101, NYNY...)
- Tianmu
- Shilin NM

Day 5
- Jiufen
- Keelung
- Miao Kou NM
- Taipei Main underground

Day 6
- XMD/Taipei Main Underground

Feel free to comment. I'm just afraid that it's a little too packed. Btw, i'm leaving for taipei tmr!

Just wanna confirm if the 24h Eslite bookstore is at Zhongxiao Dunhua? Coz from the map, i realised there are alot of Eslite bookstores but from my understanding, not all are 24h.

This thread is really great! I spent the past few days reading all 480+ pages! Thanks for all your help in planning my itienary. I would like to share the result of reading all these pages.

Day 1
- Check in @ Wonstar - Rem to buy Easy Card cost only NT500 (NT400 plus NT100 as deposit(
- Miramar - Nothing much to see in fact, recommend not to go unless u die die wanna sit the ferris wheel.
- Shilin NM

Day 2
- CKS Memorial - Recommend to be in time for their hourly change of guard parade. Was there at 1000am last time round
- SYS Memorial
- Zhongxiao shopping area - Can try Ding Tai Feng as it is around the corner. Nice food n nice services
- Wufenpi
- Raohe NM
- Eslite 24h bookstore (if time allows)

Day 3
- YMS - Rem to go early if u wanna see all the sites there. Cuz it took me nearly 3-4hrs just to see 2 site. Dun need to buy the whole day ticket unless you wanna go to all sites in YMS
- Beitou - If u gonna hotspring, k recommend you the springs resort. Not bad. Take free shuttle bus at Beitou MRT station
- Danshui
- Yu Ren Ma Tou
- KTV @ XMD - > why dun you go Shilin NM instead as it is on the way back.

Day 4
- Longshan Temple (Just the temple, not interested in the NM)
- Taipei Cityhall area (101, NYNY...)
- Tianmu
- Shilin NM - > KTV @ XMD. Sound more logical as less travelling time is incurred.

Day 5
- Jiufen - > Rem to purchase ur train ticket to Ruifang-Jiufen one day earlier. This is to avoid the train fully booked situation. If you like tai yang ping, there is 2 shops that sell it.
- Keelung
- Miao Kou NM
- Taipei Main underground

Day 6
- XMD/Taipei Main Underground

Feel free to comment. I'm just afraid that it's a little too packed. Btw, i'm leaving for taipei tmr!
Your itnerary is ok. Its about the same as mine when i was there in taipei last month. Prepare to walk alot especially in Day 2 and Day 3.

Travel time to Hualien just became shorter from Today:

http://www.chinapost.com.tw/news/arc...758/109057.htm

Eight services of the tilting trains will be added to the TRA schedule starting today, operating the eastern Taiwan railway line between Hualien and Taipei.

The tilting trains will cut traveling time between Hualien and Taipei from 2 hours 55 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes, according to the TRA.

The rest of the Journey is by Keelung bus. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/nuttyazn/Taiwan/2006%20July/KeelungBustoJofunandJingwaxi.jpg
You Dont have to get off at Rueifang

It's NTD92 to Yeliou , then It's NTD44 to Keelung and another NTD44 to Jinguashi, Then a 22 to Jioufen then another NTD44 to Keelung. From Keelung ,you can take the train back to Taipei or a Bus.

There are other buses there as well, just read the signboards.
From Jinguashi, how to get to Jioufen?
