usually at hualien train stations, there'll be touts selling a ride up alishan for about NT$500. compared to bus ride NT$250 i think. Take the tout's ride, they'll bring u to an additional stop halfway to walk around & hv lunch.

at ur alishan hotel, u can either choose to DIY next morning to take train to see sunrise, or again, there's ppl going around to ask u to take their sunrise ride. i've done both & personally prefer the tout's ride again coz it'll bring to up hehuan mountains to watch sunrise. and its more convenient coz at ur doorstep.

from hualien to alishan only NT500? So cheap? by bus or car? how many hours?
how much for the tout's ride? and did they will bring to ride around to peng qi hu or 瑞里?

just check alishan hotel, almost every hotel fully book

actually, my initial plan is....

06 jul, take train from hualien to kaoshiong. - reach there shd be ard 8pm
07 jul mrng, take tze chiang at 9.30am and reach chia yi around 11am. I will stay in Alishan until 09 Jul morning. So I wanted to visit 奮起湖, 瑞里 and 達娜伊谷. Can anyone advise how should I plan my activities? How much it will cost if i get someone to bring us visit around?

09 Jul mrng, I will continue go to Nautou. Can anyone also advise is there any bus go direct to Nautou from alishan or 奮起湖 or 瑞里?

Many thank

If you are travelling on a Weekday, not on a weekend or public holiday, you should not have any problems with the ticket to Taichung. Purchasing a ticket on the spot (Non reserved seat ) is cheaper as well.

Chiufen and keelung is different places. U may wan to visit keelung city and keelung is also famous for their seafood. Actually i never been to Keelung to shop. I only went to Keelung City to buy the 蛋黄酥 recommended by my taxi driver, and aft we bought we straight away leave. So mayb nuttyazn can advise u more
