Just to check, where did you all go from 8.30 - 9.30pm. I have already booked him for the day I am in taiwan in July, but have yet to finalised itinerary. I actually intend to go with him on a tour, but to return to Danshui at 6.30pm for sunset. Maybe you could share your locations for that day, so I know if it ll be worth it to change danshui to another day.

First stop was the Yeliu Park which is a must stop and see! Its natural formations is almost breath-taking.

Next at Shifen in Pingxi whereby you can lit and "fly" a lantern for NT100. There's a very old railway track and station which is still operational between a couple of places. If you are lucky (which I was) the train checked into the station and managed to take a couple of photos. The whole place is very retro (vintage) with old rundown shop houses and residences. And there's a old wooden plank bridge crossing a river which is a must try! Otherwise, it's purely taking in the sights and sound only.

Following stop is Jiufen whereby it was up a pretty long and winding road. Here, it is mostly shopping for the local delicacies, xiao chi and the sights of houses built on the steep slopes. On the way to the Gold Mine, you may catch sight of an old aircraft within a residential area, which is being used a "hanger" for their clothes!

At the Gold Mine Museum, nothing fantastic, purely an insight to the lifestyle of the miners in their early days. The entrance fee is free till end May (I think) with any receipt (fa piao) from any stores. The only thing that interest me is the "bian dang" which they served in the only food outlet in there. For NT190 now (promotion till end March), UP NT335, they dish out the bian dang with a piece of fried drum stick, 2 side vegetables with rice into the stainless steel box, wrapped up in a cloth napkin (to keep the food warm) and a pair of chopsticks. All these including the box etc for only NT190! The meal itself is delicious and the box, napkin and chopsticks are collectibles. We bought 1 dozen (without the food) to give away to friends back home!

After that, we proceeded to a natural waterfall found along the way to Keelung and took some photos. It was another scenic sight with the water gashing down from a few "mouths". It is a must stop sight, even for those organised tour buses.

The drive along Keelung was wonderful, reminds one of the drive along the Great Ocean Road at Melbourne. Natural rocks formations, 3 different tones of sea water in the same river mouth, the sunset, etc…

Our final stop is again… shopping at the Keelung Night Market. It is just like any other night markets. But here, you have more choices of food eateries along the same stretch of shopping.

As the above places are found outskirts of Taipei city, the journey to Yeliu Park is already about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depends on traffic condition. Along the way, Mr Meeky Yang also introduced us to try the "bing lang" which is novelty as well. And we took pictures with a bing lang xi si that he's quite familiar with.

Well, I hope the above helps with those who are keen to take up a day tour with Mr Meeky Yang. Of course, you can also tell him what are the places you wanna visit and he can share his experience in terms of the route to take and know how with you also.

Good Luck!

Don't think so u can make it to Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village by 1100.. From Taipei, it takes around 4 hours before u can hit SML. (1 hour HSR, 2 plus hours via Nantou bus) Though I nvr been to Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, but its located at the NE of SML.

Where is Shih Shih Hotel? Even if u back from SML, there is too little time for Wufenpu and Raohe.. Wufenpu alone can take up to 4 hours if u are shopaholic and I doubt it closes as late as Shihlin Night Market.

Maybe u can forgo Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village as SML alone can take up to a day. Day 4 can slot in Wufenpu and Raohe.. But make sure it doesn't clash on Monday (I heard friday is also for wholesale though)

Enjoy your trip!!

Mr Meeky Yang (+886-921-915-586). or email meeky589@yahoo.com.tw
When calling from Taipei you dial:0921-915-586
If Calling from other area in Taiwan then you have to add-02-0921-915-586

I think Mr Lu is very worth it. we used him from 10+ in the morning, till around 7PM...4 of us, we paid 2800NT Dollars which is inclusive of the xiao qin shui and da qinq shui, if not its around 2200NT Dollars. that is like only $30 bucks per pax for the whole time including bringing us around and the taxi itself. Very good experience and the best part was walking into the Shui Lian Dong haha

we used him too , i would seriously recommend anybody going tw to book his tour. very very nice, cos we were rushing as we booked a late train reaching abt 11 am and going off at 5.45 pm. but everything was planned by him as we managed to buy mochi and some food stuff on the way back.

The only pity is that he felt v sad for us as we dun have the time to go shui lian dong. hais my utmost regret of the trip as the 10 of us wanted to go clubbing at night --_-- cant go back on a late train.

We even give him NT 500 tip at the end due to his service.
