Yes. A few stops to hsr. But do need factor in the walking time from 新烏日 to 台中高鐵站. Quite a distance.

Taichung must stay in motel.

That is where Taiwan motels originated, although I have yet to try.

I can only comment for Ximen Puri because I only stayed this one among the 3 you mentioned. So far last 3 trips, I stayed at Ximen Puri twice and no regrets. Just remember, its a no frills biz hotel, so don't expect big room space. Some similar hotels in the area may have better snacks at lobby, but Puri only have biscuits and a coffee machine. Hey, you are staying at XMD, u sure you want to eat hotel food? haha
Some may ask why choose Puri then. Its freaking near the Ximen station. Hotel is located right behind 豪大鷄排, so you can imagine how near I mean. 7-11 is right in front of the hotel's entrance like 5metres away. But note, room space is really limited... And I am still kinda annoyed they don't allow toilet paper in the toilet bowl, which I understand some newer hotels are alright.

motels are like hotels but just lesser facilities is it? i treasure the privacy of having my own room and own toilet. does motels provide that as well?

i have narrowed my choices down to city inn hotel, amour hotel and taichung box design hotel. any opinions on these 3?

No, motel room are so much bigger than hotel room, you can drive your car, park directly into the garage and take the private lift to your motel room directly. Sibei song wan!

Some got Jacuzzi, KTV, BBQ pit and a sex-toy vending machine.

Want bigger puri room, can try to book for a triple room.
This will be good size. if not typical taiwan hotel rooms in the city are generally small and compact.
Justsleep for 3, is huge.
Yes, I'm intending to book a triple room. But from the photos of the triple room of Hotel Puri, it looks v small.... so I hesitated...
Booked family room from Diary of Taipei at $633 for five nights instead. Is this consider a good deal?
I like the bathroom of Hotel Puri more tho... :p
