Just 3 nights, you do not have enough time to Alishan.

If you like furry animals, can check out Houtong Cat Village. It is like a small village beside an old coal mine, many cats there. Got food to eat at the old coal mine side also. It is just directly outside the train station, very convenient.

The charter car service price varies by the car type and your itinerary. Some drivers just quote lower price and eight working hours per day but adding higher overtime charge. Get quotations from several drivers is a good idea. We invited David to be our tour guide and driver. You WhatsApp +886 931 626577. He speaks fluent English. Just Google “My Taiwan Journey.”
wow nice thanks

Not to be a spoilsport, be prepared for Typhoon. Aug-Oct is Typhoon season.

Sadly, I went to Taipei a few years ago during Aug (Around National Day) and the Typhoon struck just before I flew. Flight got disrupted 8 hrs so not too bad. (Get travel insurance!)

Flight into Taoyuan International is exciting because the winds are still strong. Also, my plans are disrupted because some area are closed or cleaning up (imagine fallen trees, power outages... )

That's why, it's best to avoid July to Sept. But low season, hotel and flight are cheaper and tempting.
