Feel like replacing the launcher of my Tanix TX3, any recommendation? Thanks.

Just wondering which TX3 variants are you using? Latest TX3 is very new and using Amlogic S905X3 CPU and Alice Launcher. I think the Alice launcher is not bad and it is used for all new boxes like TX5 Max S905X2, TX5 Pro S905X2 and TX6 H6 boxes.

BTW, for Android TV boxes I always the default launcher, I tried some alternative launchers mentioned in some reviews and in the end I always go back to the default launcher provided by the vendor.

sorry newbie here...which box best for BPL...Thanks

No boxes are good for BPL if you mean to have free access to BPL/EPL.
https://www.zdnet.com/article/singapore-retailer-gets-jail-for-selling-media-boxes-that-stream-epl/

The easiest is to subscribe to SingTel TV or go through Starhub cross carriage.

Next is to subscribe to SingTel Cast Sports Plus package. Boxes like Nvidia Shield TV and Mi Box S can support SingTel Cast.

Lastly if you are tech savvy, there are ways to use VPN and paid subscription in other countries which may be cheaper.

Mine is Tanix TX3 Max TV Box (Amlogic S905W / Android 7.1 with New ALICE UX / 2GB RAM). It was recommended by you last year. :)

The default launcher is fine just that the scrollable in main page is quite small (not sure if you get what i mean).

I see. I am using Alice UX for my OEM version of TX5 Max and TX6. I think it is pretty smooth.

Do you mean the leftmost vertical small scrollable area? Haha I do not even use the feature.

Oh I think you mean the scrollable area for you to add big app icons? Yes the visable area without scrolling is too small. I just use the apps shortcut on the left to reach the apps not in the main page.

For the box itself, it is still a good box for up to 1080p. I will not recommend it now though because S905X2/S905X3 boxes are cheap enough (can be cheaper than Tanix TX3 Max).

You can try the ADW2 launcher with drag and drop function. Quite a few reviewers like it.

Wow, thanks for these additional information! I went on ahead to order 1 set as my usage is low maybe 1 or 2 hrs in a few days.

Will update again when I receive the set..

I do not have it but the reviews on Ugoos product seem to be pretty good, Ugoos AM6 is one of the fastest S922X box out there, beating Beelink GT-King. But it is also more expensive.
https://ugoos.com/ugoos-products

But if you read carefully, then you will note that X2 Cube and X2 Pro Hardware are not produced or designed by Ugoos (no Ugoos label) but rather OEM clients of Ugoos, only the FW is said to be designed by the Ugoos team. You do get OTA FW support from based on the website.

https://ugoos.com/x2-cube-amlogic-tv-box-android-9-0-s905x2

Same for X3 Cube, X3 Plus and X3 Pro.
https://ugoos.com/x3-tv-box-family-series-devices-based-on-android-9-0

From the review the firmware feature is pretty good, the hardware specifications are also not bad but I am not so sure about the build quality, especially the reviewer mentions about borderline thermal management. That is a big concern because S905X2 CPU is pretty good in terms of power.

http://tvboxstop.com/2019-tv-boxes/latest-model-ugoos-x2-pro-4gb-32gb-tv-box-review/

To play safe, you may want to get Beelink GT1 Mini S905X2 which has got very good review or the new Beelink GT1 Mini 2 S905X3.

@xiaofan

Any recommendation for an Andriod box that also has a DBV-T2 receiver built in?

None. Better buy seperate.

But if you really want to go that route, you can try those from Mecool (KIII Pro, K7) or Magicsee (C400 Plus). They are quite pricey though. K7 is very new based on the good S905X2 CPU but seems too expensive to justify the price. Kiii Pro and Magicsee C400 are popular device based on Amlogic S912 CPU.

Review of Magicsee C400 S912 based

Cheaper yet looks not bad: Mecool K6, 2GB/16GB Hisilicon CPU, no Bluetooth though.

Cheap but do not buy: Mecool M8S Plus DVB, 1GB/8GB S905D
https://androidpctv.com/mecool-m8s-plus-dvb-a-low-cost-tv-box-with-dvb-t2-tuner/

Older Kii Pro S905D 2GB/16GB is not good either with only 720p output.

11.11 flash sell for Mi Box S at S$70. Ending in two hours.

It also has S$3 voucher. I just placed order myself even though I do not really need another box, in fact this is my first Lazada order (usually using Taobao) and I got another S$6 voucher as new user. So only need to pay S$61.

Tanix new boxes naming is problematic. They just reuse the names of old models. So when you buy, take note of the configuration.

The following listing is from the Gearbest official Tanix store, selling official version of Tanix box with Tanix logo. Local online shops typically sell OEM version without Tanix logo and quantity may not be as good. TX3 4GB/32GB seems to be of good value compared to TX8 and TX5 Pro.

TX8 RK3318 4GB/32GB at US$35 or 4GB/64GB at US$40, dual band wifi,

TX3 S905X3 4GB/32GB at US$44 and 4GB/64GB at US$46, dual band WiFi
https://m.gearbest.com/tv-box/pp_009559912180.html

TX3 S905X3 2GB/16GB 2.4GHz WiFi and no BT at US$34

Low cost TX9S S912 2GB/8GB 2.4GHz WiFi Gigabit Ethernet USB2.0 Box at US$25
https://m.gearbest.com/tv-box/pp_009329759547.html

BTW, the popular TX5 Max S905X2 box is no more. TX5 Pro is a downgrade but also at lower price. 4GB/32GB dual band WiFi version is at US$50.

Its remote control doesn't have netflix button, so it is not certified by netflix.

But if you are not interested in netflix, then it is a very good box @$49.

It seems a hacked version of Netflix app do works on this box.

Mecool has quite a few Google certified box like the KM9 Pro and KM3, both are based on S905X2. The first box from Mecool certified by Google is the KM8 S905X box.

They are all not certified by Netflix. In fact Netflix banned Mecool boxes because they use a fake ESN previously to provide Netflix 4k previously.

BTW, there is also KM9 which is not Google certified.

Just wanted to highlight that global version is not uk 3-pin plug , tho some seller will give u an additional adapter.
With that being said, some sellers labeled it as "International version" but still do not have the 3 pin plug, best to check with them.

2-pin or 3-pin power adapter should not matter, just need an adapter if it is two pin.

The international version or Global version, in this context, means that it is not China version and runs official Google Android TV OS, has Google Chromecast function and Netflix 4k support.

China version of Mi Boxes (Mi Box 4, 4c, 3 Enhanced, etc) do not have Google Play Store installed and they are not certified by Netflix.

But if you really care about this point and value local warranty, you can buy from local Mi Shop. The price is usually S$99 but occasionally they have offer as low as S$89.

3pin uk plug is for uk and its former colony only

uk doesn't represent the whole world.
