U how many pax going? hotel booked?

1 pax. Not staying hotel. Most likely will stay at Baan Thai at Nimmanhemin cuz I want the rental form to apply for residence certificate at immigration and apply for Thai driving licence. Otherwise will source for a short term condo room.

Yourself?

Haha yes, trying my luck, and seems like 60 days is 2 months to them, so we can book any dates within November from 1st of Sept :)

I taking train 9/10 and first class berth with my friend, hope it gonna be a good ride.

I saw the site stating ticket up to 90 days so you are just nice to book now.

Next hotel?

Hello. I'm planning to travel to cm this November with my gf for the lantern festival. But the air tix and hotel all seemed to be very expensive. Can I check, from your past experiences, are the buses and trains from bkk to cm comfortable? Are there toilets available in the buses and trains? Which exact websites did you book train 9/10 from? Thanks!

Er , i not an old bird to Chiangmai, but if you want to book train or bus tickets, here are the two trusted sites i known of.

1) https://www.thairailwayticket.com- Official Thailand Railway online booking site, after your purchase, remember to print the hardcopy tickets. I booked my tickets here.

2) https://12go.asia/en - Well-known trusted agency that help you book Bus tickets and Train tickets. FYI, they don't actually issued train tickets, as they will ask their staff to queue up at the train station and buy on your behalf with a commission. You have to redeem the actual train tickets before your departure. They also provide bus tickets booking, but i haven't try.

I not sure about the comfort level for both, but i think the sleeper train will be more comfortable than a bus, and yes both provide toilet since its a long journey.

IMO, sleeper train is better then bus. There is toilet on board the train. Still got café so no need scare hungry :D.

As for hotel, those few near Tae Phae gate are either booked or very expensive. There are still many reasonably priced hotel surrounding the old city. You may want to check out AIRBNB too.

did you attend the yee peng lantern festival during your past trips?

I had never went to that paid event as it is very troublesome to find transport back to old city after the event. Furthermore like so commercialised. I rather stick to the parade as well as join the mass releasing sky and water lantern at ping river

The too touristy is PAI, this Mon Cham likes still a hidden gem.

Me intending to rent a car drive up, cheaper and more freedom. But if got more ppl wan go, then booking a van and split cost would be more ideal, can sit back and relax :D

Haha ok, i read trip advisor mention that it's usually filled with locals and chinese tourists, and food are x2. Well , it's just a matter of preference :).

I am quoted 1800 baht for two, wonder if its reasonable.

1800 should be around there I think since it is at least a half day affair. Any other nice places in your itinerary?
