Hi all, I'm heading to Phuket next week for a 4 days trip and I'm looking for a prepaid SIM card that can provide me with data for surfing the net, don't really need the calling part.
Seeing the other posts, I concluded that it's the best to get either the DTAC Happy Tourist sim at 299baht with provides 7 day unlimited data or the True Move H sim + 1gb data (at is it 100baht?).
So may I know if there are both DTAC and True Move counters in the Phuket Airport or I can just purchase it at any 7-11 stores? Will there be a major language barrier and having high possibility for stores having no stocks if I buy it at 7-11 stores?
Thank You!

Going tomorrow, will let you know if I can find it at the 7-11 at Phuket airport, otherwise I will try other places, like Jungceylon Dtac store or Bangla road 7-11.

Just passed through phuket airport. no more 7-eleven and all the small convenience stores pushing the true move at a much higher price of 5xx baht of 1 week of unlimited Data with free 100THB worth of calls.

Not worth so now trying my luck at 7-eleven at Patong. Hope I can find it later.

I'm in phuket now. I opted for the dtac happy tourist sim card at 299baht. It's pretty worthwhile since it gives 7days unlimited data usage. However, it can be quite difficult to find as many 7-11 doesn't have the stocks. I only managed to get one after finding it for so long at a mall's 7-11.

Hi all, I am in bkk now. Bought AIS traveller SIM 299bht. The counter setup for me on my iphone4s. Back in the hotel, I realised my phone cannot tether with my laptop. My iphone's personal hotspot option missing. Strange....

Does this comes with the 3G internet?
If yes how's the speed and coverage so far?

I will be going over next week so still considering a second option in case i can't find dtac happy tourist 299

I'm actually using True prepaid.

499thb for a month worth of unlimited internet access, and 250mins worth of calls.

So far the service have been up to par with M1 which I've been using back home.

And at 499thb, i really get my value for money. Better speed and reception!!
is this available at the airport ?

Heard from others on another travel forum that TrueMove not bad.
Once card inserted, you can activate the free 2GB internet by pressing *850# then send. You will receive an SMS later with a Welcome package URL. Just click on the URL and it should work. Once activated it is valid for a month.
Promotion start from Aug - end Oct

I wonder if they still give out the free sim cards in airport. :?

Its 3G internet. Speed wise depends. Google map is fast. Singapore yahoo finance site is quite comparable to M1. Google search is fast.

They are having promotion - unlimited internet data. How do i know? I check my amount left before and after the internet usage. Still the same. It charge you on your call only.

I bought mine at the mall Jungcelyon. There's a true move (if I've not mistaken) counter at the baggage collection area but it can be quite crowded. I didn't see any 7-11 at the airport. I'm not sure if other stores in the airport sells them though. The best way is to just go around each 7-11 and ask. But I believe 7-11s in malls would have them.
