should start a pilot scheme to house students from rental flats/complicated issues. the problem isn't rental flats but their family background. how u expect them to put in 100% effort when theres chaos and worries everyday in household? where can they study or do homework in peace? can they even sleep properly? of cos majority will drop out of school sooner or later given such f lifestyle.

Is true
If you live in poverty, you will be busy thinking of next meal instead of trying to pass your math paper

and the ridiculous maths paper needs tuition as most parents cannot teach (even if they want to)

so many heuristic methods to learn.

Years ago, when I gave tuition, some of my students were from lower income groups. One common trend was that they were weak in fundamentals like English and basic Maths. This was probably a consequence of them not being able to afford pre-Primary education and tuition at an earlier age and so fell behind their peers. Without a solid foundation, it got harder and harder for them to catch up every year.

Nowadays, kids go to school when they are barely able to crawl. To level the playing field, help needs to be extended to disadvantaged families as early as possible and not when the kids are already in Primary school.

There is no coordinated effort among ministries to help kids from poor family. The kids poor performance in school is not because of the teaching in school.

Generally, the government doesn't want to seriousl address inequality. To do so will involve some sacrifices from the more well-to-do and the middle class in Singapore. Hence, no estate duty but keep raising GST.
