The problem is there is no single line 2Gbps internet connection. If want more than 1Gbps must go for 10Gbps.No idea about what you are talking about. You are mixing up WAN side and LAN side.
Whether you are using ONR or ONT, and no matter which ISP or which internet plan (be it 500Mbps or 1Gbps, 2Gbps or 10Gbps), you can have a sub network with 10Gbps or 5Gbps or 2.5Gbps within the home network.
Read the thread here about 10Gbps home network as well.

Again you need to go back to the ABCs of home networking to understand WAN (for internet in this context) and LAN (for internal home networking) before commenting further. The problem is there is no single line 2Gbps internet connection. If want more than 1Gbps must go for 10Gbps.
privacy, cheaper over the long run, security. Why not use cloud instead of NAS? NAS take up space.
Cloud is still someone else's computer. Why not use cloud instead of NAS? NAS take up space.
Yes security is a concern. For work i upload to my company's cloud.privacy, cheaper over the long run, security.
Yes a bit slow when i upload a lot of big files into my office's cloud. The good is anytime i can get it from the cloud and it do not take up my work laptop disk space at all.Cloud is still someone else's computer.
You already said bandwidth is limited by the remote server, if I'm gonna be editing photos/videos or if I'm consuming media content, why would I want to pull those files from the internet when it's more optimal for those files to be hosted locally?
Cloud is a good option for tiered backup, but it sucks if you're gonna access large files constantly.

are you sure? The problem is there is no single line 2Gbps internet connection. If want more than 1Gbps must go for 10Gbps.
Starhub and Singtel are dual 1Gbps and not a single 2Gbps connection and their bundled router is up to 1Gbps wan and lan. Their 2Gbps plan is 2x1Gbps la. When i want to sign 2Gbps under Starhub, CSO told me that i have to consider it properly as it is not a single cable true 2Gbps. If i am to plug in 1 lan cable to my laptop i only get 1Gbps only. i can get 2 laptops both at 1Gbps with each individual cable to each laptop. Since they said like that so i did not sign la. CSO did not recommend i sign 2Gbps plan and asked me to take 1Gbps. CSO is good.are you sure?
come here to confuse people again?
25 Mbps already enough to watch 4K UHD video on Netflix Premium so should be ok to sign up 500Mbps plan.500Mbps connection for home usage is more than enough....
u need to define your use-cases if you have need for higher speed...
except that at least one ISP's 1Gbps plan is as cheap as it's own 500Mbps plan after doing some maths500Mbps connection for home usage is more than enough....

magic maths ?except that at least one ISP's 1Gbps plan is as cheap as it's own 500Mbps plan after doing some maths
I ran the numbers awhile back, M1 1Gbps plan is roughly $11 more ex over 21 months as compared to the 500 Mbps plan provided you can get the free 3 mths (39*3) and free AX55. If you can get the Asus AX3000, it's probably going to be cheaper because the assumption I made for the AX55 is you have to sell it at $80.magic maths ?
wrong calculations:I ran the numbers awhile back, M1 1Gbps plan is roughly $11 more ex over 21 months as compared to the 500 Mbps plan provided you can get the free 3 mths (39*3) and free AX55. 500Mbps plan
29.9*21=$627.90
1Gbps plan
(39.9*18)-80=$638.20
Not A level math.
Not true. Termination after 24 mth ctt fulfillment does not attract fees .wrong calculations:
1Gbps is a 24 month plan - you can't stop after 21 months
500Mbps plan
29.9*24=$717.6
1Gbps plan
(39.9*21)-80=$757.9
This is for the first 24 months for new users. you will not get the freebies for the next sign up.
For the next 24 months, the difference will be $10*24 = $240
not worth to quit and change isp too, you have to pay m1 for termination even after contract fulfillment.
There was free 3 mths + free router recontract offer for the 1Gbps plan when I checked last month. Offer might have expired so ymmv. Not true. Termination after 24 mth ctt fulfillment does not attract fees .
Existing 1gbps recontracters gave been able to get 1 to 3 mths free based on previous promos.
So his illustration is sound.
Cannot fully agree about selling the router part as recontracters may not get new router.
