Settings:

Pioneer PDP4270XD Settings

The following settings were calibrated for HD broadcast and HD DVD performance via HDMI input in a dark viewing environment. There are several reasons why they won’t work for you, as they can all affect `final’ picture quality.
  • Personal preference
  • Ambient light
  • Source material
  • Player
  • Intramodel variation
General
Contrast 0
Brightness 2
Colour 0-10
Tint 0
Sharpness -3
Pro Adjust
PureCinema
ADV – for HD movies
Standard – for DVD movies
Off – with video material, or if you’re experiencing artifacts with the above modes
Colour temperature
Manual
R High +1
G High 0
B High +1
R High 0
G High 0
B High -7
CTI Off
Colour management
R -8
Y 0
G +7
C -7
B 0
M 10
Colour Space 2
Intelligent Colour Off
Noise Reduction All Off
Dynamic Range Expander
Dynamic Contrast Off
Black Level Off
ACL Off
Gamma 3
Intelligent DRE Off
If the contrast control is set too low for you, you may try the following settings:
Contrast ~20
Gamma 2 for daylight and 1 for dark viewing conditions
Colour temperature Low
On our measurements, these changes boosted the contrast ratio but incurred a greyscale penalty above 80 percent stimulus.
For SD broadcast, I tend to make a few further adjustments given the wide quality of material.
Colour 0 to 10
Colour space 1
Sharpness higher than -3
Digital noise reduction Low to Mid
MPEG noise reduction Low to Mid
Don’t worry if all this doesn’t make any sense. I want to encourage you to experiment with these settings, knowing what they do and how they affect picture quality. That’s what so great about a TV like this. You get to tell the TV how they should show pictures and not the other way around. In the end, your eyes will be the judge.

Panasonic PV 70 menu

http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=532705

Open the front flap:
Hold down the V- Key while pressing "0" on the remote three times in quick succession

And hey presto the first service menu screen should pop up within a couple of seconds.
To exit I just turned off the TV then back on again, all previous settings were retained but then I did not alter anything, just checked the SW versions and hours etc

***Beware, you are responsible for any errors in entering the service menu***

Sony Bravia Service Menu

http://lyris-lite.net/bravia_tips.html

Service Mode: how to get in
To take advantage of some of these tips, you'll need to go into the Service Mode of the TV. Don't be overwhelmed by this idea. You probably have images in your mind of service menus from the CRT days, with undecipherable four-letter options in green text plastered all over the screen. No need to worry - the service menus on the BRAVIA TVs are as easy to use as the regular menus.

**** NOTE ****

While you're in Service Mode, resist the temptation to touch anything that I don't mention in here. You can mess up the lovely image quality of your TV by accidentally changing the white balance and such in the service menu. Everyone seems to change the "A/D Converter" settings - I have no idea why - just don't! I did it once and luckily managed to translate part of an Italian service manual to fix my own mess! So, you have been warned. The parts I tell you to change in this guide will not make any drastic changes to the TV.
To temporarily add the hidden Service Mode option to the menus, start by turning the TV off. With your remote, press the following buttons, one after the other, in this order. (If some of the buttons look a tiny bit different to the picture here, don't worry - I used an older Sony LCD for this picture):
bravia_b1.gif
bravia_b2.gif
bravia_b3.gif
bravia_b4.gif

( I+, 5, Vol +, Power )

Your TV will now power on exactly as it normally would. You might notice that when you change aspect ratio or inputs, the picture takes a half-second or so to adjust itself. There's nothing wrong with your TV - it's just that normally, the TV blanks out the display while this is going on, so you don't normally notice.

Now when you press Menu, you'll see that you now have a new option at the bottom labelled "Service". Yup - that's what that blank gap is for! That's it - you're now in the Service Menu. You might want to refer back to these instructions for the tips on the following pages.

Pioneer 428 Gen 8 panel settings

Adjustment Notes

There are six preset Picture modes and one User mode. All modes can be adjusted, but the picture settings are tied to the modes, not the inputs. The only exception is the User mode, which can be set independently for each input. The Pure mode comes closest to correct, though I set up the user mode.
Like many displays I've tested recently, the color control didn’t seem to do much above a certain value, in this case +10 or so. With Enhancer mode at 1, ringing could not be completely eliminated, even with the sharpness control at minimum. On the other hand, with Enhancer mode at 3, fine detail was severely softened, so a setting of 2 is best.
The Low color-temp preset came closest to correct, but it was somewhat toward red, and the next highest preset was quite blue. Because this set is relatively high end, it's likely that many buyers will hire a professional to calibrate it, so that's what I did using the complete grayscale-calibration available in the Manual color-temp mode. “Scott’s Settings” specify the Low color-temp preset because it's the best you can do without a full calibration.
Test Discs

Starting with the HQV Benchmark DVD at 480i, the detail tests were not quite as sharp as other displays I’ve seen recently, but this could be due to the fact that the PRO-1150HD is not 1920x1080. Jaggies were nearly non-existent, with just a hint in the waving flag. Four types of noise reduction are provided; 3DNR and Mosquito NR were effective without noticeably softening the picture. All three film-mode settings took much longer than most TVs to lock onto 3:2 pulldown, and then they lost it near the end of the clip. Also, all three failed the mixed film/video test; only turning film mode off caused the scrolling video text to look clean.
On the HQV Benchmark HD DVD at 1080i, there was no flickering in the video and film resolution loss tests at any active film-mode setting; turning it off caused severe flickering in the film test. Jaggies were completely invisible.
Microsoft engineer Stacey Spears’ test disc revealed that the overscanning is a bit asymmetrical, with more than 30 pixels cropped from the left, 19 from the right, 10 from the top, and 23 from the bottom. The high-frequency horizontal and vertical bursts were completely rolled off. All three film modes picked up 3:2 pulldown at 1080i very quickly.

Sharp AQEOUS Service meny and settings

Enter service menu by first unplugging set, then while holding both input button and volume down button, plug TV back in. Within about 5 seconds, the set will power up (without pressing the "on" button); keep holding the input and volume down buttons until a small "K" appears in a box on the left side of the screen. Then press and hold the channel down and vol down buttons at the same time to enter the service menu.

Once the service menu is displayed on the screen, you can get the screen to display different levels of solid grey by pressing the number keys on your remote. i.e. press "1" to get a relatively dark grey, 2 for a lighter grey, and so on up to 6 which is a bright white screen; 7, 8, and 9 don't appear to do anything. Press any number a second time to return to the service menu...

The only control I tweak is the backlight setup (depending on room lighting conditions). Ex. -11 works well in a completely dark room; standard (mid) to 12+ for when the lights are on/sunny room.

All inputs:

Do exactly what the instructions say and make sure you aim the control at the bottom right hand bottom of the screen and wait the 3 seconds as instructed.
It doesn't always work so if it fails the first time try it again. I have done it about 3 times now and on two occasions it took me 3 attempts to get it so it has to be done exactly right.

This is what you should see as the first page:
