win or lose is up to definition. putin requested for ukraine disarmament, not joining nato...etc but explicitly he expressed his underlying and only interest is to keep ukraine under russia control, ultimately even he have to go scotched earth for ukraine to destroy every life there he will still see it as a win. as to ukraine lives lost. russian ppl suffering under the sanctions, well putin is willing to accept. how the ppl feel is not exactly his primary concern, this view originated from russian source not from the west.
