Is $729 a good deal for qantas? travel period is end Sept, to MEL, SQ cost about $850..

While I normally wouldn't call $729 a good price for Qantas, end of Sep is school holidays in Melbourne/Victoria so it's hard to say what the ex-SIN price will be. It will be heavily date dependent as well as whole families try to fit travel into everyone's schedules.

Perth $243. Sydney $300 Melbourne $304.
For Europe they have athens $362 Berlin $515
Taxes in two way
Exclude optional add on such as luggages . Seats selection. Meals. Etc
Travel before May end.

Which city? Late Sep is school holidays in quite a few states. As you mentioned EK, I'm guessing it's either Melbourne or Brisbane. In which case, $678 is a reasonably ok price. Best way to think of Qantas is a budget airline but with all food, entertainment, and baggage included in the price.

Yup it's MEL, the price is even cheaper now @$646 via Qantas..

I got Qantas at $515 nett round trip Sin - Mel. Booked on 14 June for travel in mid Aug 2019. Can't imagine flying budget for 7.5 hours.

Dec period sure expensive. It's so bloody hot and humid too. I'll go in July instead.

Don't forget that there will be lots of Ang Mohs flying from the UK via Singapore to connect to Australia.
