I opted for physical sim. Took a few days to arrivevia mail. Once activate the sim card, within same day ported over already.
Need some advice. So if I am only meeting the someone on Xmas day to help her put in the new SIM card. Yes only on that day. So I can port over earlier, get the SIM card first and only activate on Xmas eve right. Then on Xmas day should port over liao. Meet her and help her put the SIM card in.

Her is MyRepublic. Ok. How about like that. I apply for the port over new line from 8 now. Then wait for the SIM card. While waiting, nothing happens right. Then when I receive the SIM card, activate it and put in a temp phone first. Completely port over liao then remove from temp phone and meet her on Xmas to insert into her phone. So if must put in for her on Xmas, 2 days before Xmas activate ok?

Why so complicated.

When you apply, nothing happens.

While you wait for the Physical SIM to be delivered to her house, nothing happens.

When you receive the Physical SIM and activate it on the Eight Website, the porting will begin. The Eight SIM will have a temporary number and has data and can make calls / send SMS. The porting cut off time is usually at around 5pm, but could be earlier.

Her MyRepublic SIM can still be used, until it stops, usually at around 11pm at night. Then, it's time to put in the Eight SIM. Porting will usually take a few hours to complete, and should fully complete by the next day 12pm. If it's the weekend / public holiday, it may take longer.

Ask her to download so she can monitored her data usage.

haha even giga wise she barely used the data.

it's the 8 dollars and kinda one month free promo that I was after

I will be porting mine too

anyway I just managed to reach home and put her giga SIM with no signal into another phone and reboot her iPhone

ported over successfully can receive SMS and calls on the number ported in and downloaded the app for her and used the one month free recharge balance immediately before putting my credit card back in

I used Esim when I was with Simba, nothing happened
1f60e.png

Yes, no need to physically remove n install sim card.
I think soon physical sim will be phasing out.

I used one of those programmable esim.me or 5ber SIM cards for the 5 dollar esim simba senior plan

my recommendation is don't the profile for Simba is locked and I lost 5 dollars for that month for nothing cause the esim.me card died while I tried to switch profiles on the Poco F3 and the esim.me card

yes I didn't mind the esim cause of not having to pay delivery fees.

yep which is why I considered it

the simba at that point of time was to tide over one month of switching from giga without the monthly 2gb roaming to giga with the roaming.where 40 gb got cut down drastically to 20 gb.

I ended up with zero 1 because of the simba debacle (also free sim delivery)

so one old phone ended up being the hotspot with the zero one for the phone with the giga

the giga that month in November for ciq jb Malaysia didn't wow me cause of the hassle to get the roaming activated.

I am hoping eight would be more seamless.

not really going to super exotic countries either.

Hi, I want to check some things for Eight telco.

If it's using Starhub network, does it mean the reception is the same at any place where Starhub is working fine? (Currently i'm using Starhub).

Can I say that speed might be slower than generic Starhub line?

If I am traveling overseas, I can receive calls and SMS from both local country and Singapore for free; I can also call both local country and Singapore for free?

Thanks.
