ASUS AiMesh Ethernet Backhaul question

Aimesh allows your main router and the secondary router (strictly in access point mode) to be connected over wireless instead of ethernet.

Modem -> Main Router port -> Node WAN port

The above link can work (because the node will convert the WAN into another LAN port.)

The below won't work because the node router cannot operate while connected directly to the modem, it need a main router to do the routing operations.

Modem -> Main Router WAN
Modem -> Node WAN
just to reconfirm cos i saw the video from asus

the nodes can connect to the WAN port and NOT the LAN port ? cos normally i see other brands if connect from router bridge to another router is LAN port instead.

So in this way it will free up additional LAN Port for me

am i right?

just a quick question if there is a update on the node ...how can it be notify and be updated?

will it inform you on the main router page or?

yup, you will get the notification on main page. In the firmware page, you can choose to update all (if available) or even manual upload for each of the nodes.
