Me save many years for this year end trip.

End Sept definitely cannot, minimum is next year. Mine is this year end but thus far SQ doesnt allow me to postpone or cancel for free.

Hopefully, your's can go on smoothly, but i think it won't be the same again after the pandemic.

Isn't summer gonna be more expensive?

I went to NZ South island last year may. The hottest was at 22 deg in Christchurch. Other than that. The weather is 12 to 15 deg day time and night time can fall below 5 deg.

Hi, seeking advice. I read in one article, for south island it's not recommended to drive more than 250KM a day.

I'm going in NZ summertime so should I plan my driving between cities/town and route within 250KM?

I think during my trip last year, we did almost 200+ a day and max maybe 500?
that's what my husband said.

We went there for approx 6-7 weeks

This year confirm cannot liao.

Summer more expensive but is our preference due to our daughter young age. We paid 1.5k per person on SQ air ticket (Christmas period + multi city).

Thus far SQ haven't response how long we can postpone our travel date. We already save many years for this trip, so okay another year of excuse for me to save and buy Sony a7iii (maybe in time for a7iv), haha

Mine still have to wait and see. our air ticket credit hold for a year. By right today, i should be at Queenstown, New Zealand, doing skydiving. :(

Mine very sad :(, I've to fork out additional S$282 per person for SQ flight amendment. That's on top of very expensive 1.5K i paid per person. But if we cancel, we loss all.

Unlikely SQ will provide complimentary amendment for my travel date, but we not confident to go this year. Somehow even if we gain confident, we cant afford two weeks quarantine per country, doesnt make sense too for leisure travel purpose.

did you go south or north? Did you drive in the snow?
i did south island 3 times

and north island once

all different trips

there will only be ice/snow in the mountains, so if u dun drive up the ski resorts, no problem.

milford sound will always be wet, but jus be more careful after the tunnel...

Nice, I'm heading to south island (this month) - postponed due to the pandemic, I should be at Milford sound now. You drive campervan? Can I also have your itinerary for south island? Thank you

for 1 of the 3 south island, we had campervan for the initial 1/3 of the trip, the rest were car... for the other 2, 100% car...

my itinerary not very useful for the normal traveller cuz it's very high level and i do various hikes/treks... we didn't do a few of the hikes/treks we planned since it was free & easy and we book accoms along the way and not in advance so it's was quite flexible... i'll jus share my last trip's...

Thanks man. How's the Milford sound cruise? Does the cruise go close to the waterfall?- I saw in one of the travel videos.

ya, most of the cruises will go to the falls, go near the rocks where seals chill, sometimes can see dolphins following ur boat (i got that last trip so lucky!)

milford sound is beautiful regardless cloudy/misty or clear day, so dun be too sian if you go there and it's abit cloudy/rainy, as long as it's not thunderstorm that kind it'll be ok...

According to guides, u haven't seen milford sound until you have seen it in the rain or after raining. Coz that is when u will see hundreds of mini waterfalls all over.
Unfortunately, I went on a fine day, so I 'haven't' really seen milford sound :(

I'm very sad, very sad. SIA just response my tickets even if forkup rebooking fee can only extend till Jan2021. My travel date is Dec.

I fully paid more than 10k just on air ticket for my family and parents to NZ. Suppose to be once in a lifetime trip. I plan early, book early. Now not only i loss 10k, i dont think i can save up enough for next NZ trip, at least for few more years.

More than 10k of hard-earned and years of saving. I dont dare to tell my parents, in thier twilight the truths. They orignially insist not to go. I convince them, hoping to organise one never bf meaningful 3 generation trip. I told them SIA refund me all cost, they still praise them. I can only cry from within.
