Those are promos for new users only which comes with minor updates. So may not be treated as the same was of your current account in the future.

Please COPY your promo code from the promo site you have received and enter it to your Getflix Account > Subscription > Promo Code section. This will extend your account automatically.

From them after I asked if there's any difference between the lifetime sub and the ones on the website

Here you go.

Original speed:

SG gateway:

US(LA) gateway:

As you can see, SG gateway is pretty impressive US gateway on the other hand......well it's free so I've got no complains.

On the plus side, according to this: https://getflix.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/204754060

they do not keep logs. BT not allowed though

Setting up the VPN is a bitch though as there are using OpenVPN and not their own proprietary software.

They also have this: https://getflix.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/203743254-DNS-over-VPN-Introduction

which is awesome as you can netflix or something on the go(waiting for the day data plans become unlimited)

Well I'm currently using it so....

Anyway, this is more of a smartdns service like unotelly or unblock.us and not a dedicated VPN.

Do take note that BT is not allowed and US speed is laughable.

Also, since VPN is not included in the package(you are paying for the smart dns NOT VPN), it might get removed in the future.

can you access china streaming sites that are geo-locked? e.g. youku, tudou, etc?

I use unotelly for this. Can access youku, tudou, eye. See their supported channels list too see what is supported

Although their vpn service is crap, I only have good things to say about their dns service so far. Eg, they only officially supported xiami on pc/mac. I submitted a ticket on 26 asking if they could support out on android as well. And they added support for this and replied to my ticket on 30th.

Apart from unotelly, astrill is the only other service which I know of that can be used to access china content. Someone reviewed it a few pages back.

On my opinion astrill, as a full vpn service, is guaranteed to work with any site. But service quality may suffer with popularity as china bandwidth is very expensive. On the other hand unotelly's dns service must add support for each specific site but service quality should theoretically not worsen with popularity.

Hmm just realized that getflix actually allows BT on some of their servers: https://getflix.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/204476204

I now realize that speedtest is seriously pointless and it's much better to test the speeds by simulating real life experience. As such, I tried torrenting ubuntu torrent via Hong Kong server and US Delaware Server. Also tried doing a speed test by downloading the test file provided by getflix to simulate downloading speed via browser. Below are my results:

1. Torrent.

Hong Kong: http://i.imgur.com/7hswTbx.jpg
US: http://i.imgur.com/P4D3sFV.jpg

OK-ish speed considering that this is connected via VPN. Speeds hover around 600-800kbps for Hong Kong and 400-700kbps for US.

2. Browser download

Hong Kong: http://i.imgur.com/2asF85h.jpg
US: http://i.imgur.com/OBA2FCS.jpg

Very impressive speeds here. This means that streaming HD from these servers should have little to no buffering. With Hong Kong, you can access China streaming sites too like youku and Hong Kong's own TVB. YAY.

Bonus, China speed: http://i.imgur.com/ypU5z9K.jpg

As with most VPNs, really meh. Better off connecting to Hong Kong.

3. Conclusion

Considering that this is a 30 year subscription @ $39 USD, it's a real steal. Even though what I paid for was their smartDNS, the VPN is just icing. And to provide such decent speed? Really think it's worth it

I agree with the OP. Astrill betrays its customers by revealing identifiable information about its customers. Two Singaporean bloggers were investigated by Singapore's Internal Security Department for posting what the latter deemed to be remarks that lower the esteem of the Singaporean Prime Minister. These bloggers were using Astrill to mask their activities.

Came across this article
