I can only tell you ExpressVPN is good.

Normally won't notice i'm on VPN.
But it will surely drop speed if you do heavy downloads which you can't avoid with any service

i see that you are Mr CEO from M1 FIBRE BROADBAND DISCUSSION thread.

too much free time and watch all of it already.

Not enough time as i only have 4 hrs per week to watch Tv. Looking at the titles and watched 15 min already stopped watching. Boring show. My family also do not like it. Terminated and removed app totally. Do not waste time on it.

Any cheap VPN account for routers?

I got a spare old Linksys router with DD-WRT firmware.
I wish to configure my router to provide VPN feature if I connect via certain wireless SSID, or standard ISP connection (non-VPN) if using my default home SSID.

Can such setup be configured with ease?
Which VPN give u such flexibility? login with no-prompt no interactive menu?
And cheaply...

cheap does not mean good and fast...

just ask the vpn provider whether they support ddwrt router openvpn client will do.... most of it support

as for china great firewall good luck, better pay monthly instead of yearly subscription so once this provider cannot, can change anytime.

actually for china best method is to setup ur home router as openvpn server so you can connect to your singapore home openvpn router and most likely it will not be block as it is not common to other and only you use.

you can also setup the openvpn router on port 443 instead of the default port

https://www.privatetunnel.com/
Get Unlimited data and connect up to 10 devices
$29.99/year

this is cheap...

i use it to buy Amazon ebooks using the free account.
current free account give 2GB now, no expire date.

i also use alwaysvpn to buy ebooks last time. now it cost more..

https://ssl.alwaysvpn.com/

15GB @ $8.50 no expire date.
last time have sell 5GB

i use free one :p

i create 2 router vpn client, one using PPTP and one using openvpn clien, both will connect to my singapore home router vpn server from anywhere.

Just connect the lan cable to the either of the 2 router and i connect to the router wireless and connection will be as i am in Singapore.

tested working :p

i already tested can use pptp vpn client connect in china.

hi,

after reading for a while.. it seems astrill has some issue now with accessing China websites.. However, if it is just for climbing, is it still recommended? or any other suggestion?

cost wise: $ 69.95 for astrill with sealthvpn for 1 year -- anyone got better deal?

TIA =) :s12:

astrill had been having issues for more than a year.
They have been marked by the PRC government, will never recover

Any guides to recommend to read up on this?

get Asus router best and use Asuswrt-Merlin firmware

if use Asus stock firmware, you can either use pptp vpn server or openvpn server one at a time.

if use Asuswrt-Merlin firmware, you can have both enable same time.

then use ddns on the asus router so you can connect to the router using ddns name.

apply Free Dynamic DNS at no-ip.com
http://www.noip.com/remote-access

Remote Access with Dynamic DNS
Dynamic DNS points an easy to remember hostname to your dynamic IP address.

Download firmware

For general support question, please use the public Support Forum hosted at SmallNetBuilder.

i prefer Asuswrt-Merlin firmware.

This is a customized version of Asuswrt, the firmware developed and used by Asus on many of their routers.

Official support:
RT-N66U
RT-AC66U
RT-AC56U
RT-AC68U/RT-AC68P
RT-AC87U
RT-AC88U
RT-AC3100
RT-AC3200

As mentioned, I don't really use it for connection to or from china.. but rather just for climbing.. so for that one, is it astrill still the best choice? or maybe expressvpn or other?

any suggestion?

Thanks.
