Wow.
Such arrogance on their part.
Mark Singapore down to yet another Asian country.
Asian countries like Korea, HK and SG have high fibre pentration and connectivity. It's the western countries still on 100mbps servers.
"Most Asian countries lack international bandwidth"
Awesome customer service too, " no need to threaten us"
Why are you guys still giving them your business? Get your own cloud server, use as seedbox, storage space, music server, vent server and VPN
Well, what they said is true unfortunately.
In my experience a solid 50Mbps line in Europe works much better than 500Mbps here. You have to understand that it has nothing to do with high speed fibre connections, it is the international exchange bandwidth that matters and it is heavily capped across all ISPs here regardless what they state... The only way to obey these caps is to use VPN from companies that have their servers in hosting centers, like Astrill which is using Softlayer. Hosting companies sell their services to companies (like Astrill) on a different terms (and prices too) and do not have caps like residential users do. This is understandable at some point, because some residential users could misuse their high speeds connections to open up hosting facilities or hosting related services. The other thing is that ISPs here simply can't afford users to have a true high speed connections as Singapore doesn't have such great international connectivity and capacity. So they "lure" people with high fibre connections and fastest internet connections in the world but... that's just on a paper
I have also tried few VPNs and it is hard to beat Astrill. Their Singapore 1 (USA) server is amazing. It actually allows me to fully utilize my 300Mbps from VQ when downloading files or streaming Netflix. I do not use torrents though.
You don't have to be a rocket science specialist to prove that, run a simple test by downloading of 1 GB file from US on a single connection (without JD, IDM etc):
Without VPN goes up to 2 MB/s (takes a lot of time to reach this speeds...)
Astrill VPN using Singapore 1 (USA) goes up to 25MB/s and rising all the time which could possibly max out my 300Mbps on a single connection.
