Lol actually it is not hard to get PR for their family to live in Singapore but it is because it is very expensive to live in Singapore because the cost of living in Singapore is very expensive.

the real reason is New Zealand have better working environment and have better salary and better benefits for her and her family.

don’t have to hide behind the bushes and say it is hard to get her family PR in Singapore every one knows they use Singapore as a spring board.

to me she did nothing wrong it is just human nature we want a better life for ourselves.
Don’t worry the good news is new batch of foreign nurses will come and replace her and the cycle repeat again and again.😉

Those who want to go overseas after working here can do so. We should wish them well.

Philippines produce so many nurses. Not difficult to get replacements.

Actually nurses are very highly paid le. From a recent CNA article:
“For senior staff nurses, median annual salaries ranged from S$65,000 to S$79,700 in 2017, and increased to between S$71,200 to S$87,600 in 2021, Ms Rahayu said.”

So, which means a SSN with around 8 years experience is earning $80+k a year already….. more than many ppl here. Plus many of them don’t even have degree…..

80k a year is a lot meh?

SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong apologised on Sunday for a footnote in the Population White Paper which labelled nursing a low-skilled job.

Describing nurses as highly skilled and professional, he said of the mistake: "It is very unfortunate that the footnote slipped through. It should never have been there."

On Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, who is in charge of population matters, also apologised over the matter during the parliamentary debate on the White Paper.

PM Lee said: "I should say that I am sorry that it happened too, because I know how important the nurses are in hospitals."

Sorry say riao, but I bet there are still management who maintains the mindset.

Raising pay for nurses alone is not enough, as a domino effect will be created. The doctors, the pharmacists, the allied health staff, all others in healthcare etc will demand their share also.

Will the gahmen raid their piggy bank to do so?

There might be nurses out there who think living in NZ is a pot of honey. Say they are paid $80K in NZ.
Let me give you a rundown. Say 80K salary
tax is at 33%
So take home is 80K X .67 = 53,600. Say 55K per year after tax.
So monthly is 4,583. Say $4,500 for easy counting
Rent is 800 a week. so 3,200 a month
that means, she has $1,600 a month to spend on food, power transport and others.
Average super cheap food for family say about 200 a week . so say 800 a month
Power, they will be feeling cold because not use to the weather. Say 300 a month
Transport (bus/train) say $100 a month for herself. That exclude her husband.
That is assuming her husband not working.

So she is left with 1600-800-300-100 = 400 as excess money a month.

that 400 exclude her lunch at work. Easily 12 for lunch. If she put her child into child care, that is around 500 a week.

So the only advantage to live in NZ is that her husband can find a job and she can live as a family. Then, use the husband money to live in NZ.

really

they should worry about why LOCAL nurses moving aboard and not FOREIGN nurses as these ppl are never sg's to start with.

Start training up more local people to do the profession
Give them higher pay
Give them more benefits to attract LOCAL ppl doing the job
:(

Some just don't want their sons to serve ns lah
Talk so much. Their final destination is also those western countries. You think they really want to stay here meh. Their certs not recognise in nz so they use sg experience to apply
Then sg is kumgong to be a spring board for all these foreigners. Sg govt is really short sighted to be importing all these jobs which the locals can do....
