i recently bought SPDR SNP 500 to try out. i just received my first dividend and it is less than the 70% that i have expected. in SGX, gross amount is USD 12.78, TAX is USD 3.83 (i think this is the 30% withholding tax), handling fee is 0.20, amount paid is USD 5.95. so there is a missing USD 3. not sure what i am missing here.

How about number of units?????
Did your buy all at one go or diff day?
Confirm all units were settled before the ex div date?

10 shares (this is the min. to trade in SGX). bought in Jan. it is all settled in Jan. the dividend payment book closure is 22 Mar. since it is not in custodian account, i do not expect any charge from iocbc on this. now i am trying to figure out where does this USD 3 comes from.

SGX dividend handling fee for S27 is US$3. Has been discussed many times. But really, the 30% WHT is the killer already - if you are willing to pay the 30% WHT tax when you can get a 0% WHT S&P500 ETFs listed on LSE, then US$3 more to SGX doesn't seem that painful.

Some people like me may be interested in S27, via SRS... So no choice but to pay the 30% dividend tax... Haiz

It is good even with the div tax, expense ratio, currency exchange rate/fee, as long as it can beat the 4.0% pa int.
