can't remove write protection on sandisk usb drive.
have tried diskpart to clear readonly attributes but still unable to format sandisk usb drive
REGEDIT
Input regedit in Windows search box, and then press enter.
(Note: May require to select "Run as administrator")
Locate the following path in Registry Editor:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
(If the StorageDevicePolicies doesn’t exist, create it manually.)
Then double click WriteProtect and set the value from 1 to 0, then press OK.
Restart your computer, and re-plug the SanDisk USB flash drive or other storage devices into your computer, check whether the issue is solved or not.
regedit also cannot; use low level format tool also cannot
i guess gone case liao
If still have warranty then claim warranty lor.
Just curious. Did you last use Rufus to set up the USB key as bootable to install OS?

Have a visit to here : https://forums.sandisk.com/t5/All-S...e-write-protection-from-USB-drive/td-p/354803
Maybe this could help
Just curious..
What sort model is the sandisk usb drive and the content inside.
Also can you read or use the content inside this sandisk usb drive or not.
i have so many sandisk usb drives and others but so far do not encountered such issue of yours.
While some others are unable to read and considered spoilt or damaged.
What software did you use to create this?
I've had this happen twice. Used Rufus to create the installation media. After this the drive was write protected.
I managed to recover the sandisk using methods already posted in the thread but my Lexar Jumpdrive couldn't be unlocked. Wasted.
Thanks ... managed to fix with another low level format tool
Sandisk ultra 32gb. It's just bootable windows 10 installation media with some tools
Yes i could read & copy the content just couldn't write. All i remember was after creating the install media, i just add folder & copy over some useful utilities successfully.
few days later i decided to copy more files only to find it write protected
I have a few sandisk as well & this is the first time i have this issue
I used Mediacreation tool from microsoft to create bootable installation media. I read a few cases that this tool caused usb to be write protected
Tried Apacer USB 3.0 repair tool, works for me ...
Interesting..
For me on the bootable windows 10 installation and was highly recommended to use sandisk cruzer either blade &or orbit and either 8GB or 16GB storage only.
So far and including just now testing on one of the drive show no issue in writing folder/files into it.
Will take note on this issue on other models & higher capacity.
May try on the sandisk ultra to see if it duplicate the same.
Thanks.
pls share your findings on sandisk ultra
8gb would be enough for installation media but i didn't have any … hope i could get some cheap 8gb usb drive in it show
