China rejects WHO plan for COVID-19 origin study

BEIJING: China rejected on Thursday (Jul 22) a World Health Organization (WHO) plan for a second phase of an investigation into the origin of the coronavirus, which includes the hypothesis it could have escaped from a Chinese laboratory, a top health official said.

The organisation this month proposed a second phase of studies into the origins of the coronavirus in China, including audits of laboratories and markets in the city of Wuhan, calling for transparency from authorities.


"We will not accept such an origins-tracing plan as it, in some aspects, disregards common sense and defies science," Zeng Yixin, vice-minister of the National Health Commission (NHC), told reporters.

Zeng said he was taken aback when he first read the WHO plan because it lists the hypothesis that a Chinese violation of laboratory protocols had caused the virus to leak during research.

Before any 2nd phase investigation at Wuhan, the WHO should go to Fort Detrick in Maryland USA if lab-leak theory, that COVID-19 was leaked from a laboratory, has once again caused a clamor since the beginning of this year, months after the argument was thrown into the trash can of conspiracy theories by an overwhelming number of scientists.

This is most likely the case, that's why China resist. Lab leak is the most probable reason for such a powerful and deadly pathogen which can keep on mutating rapidly into newer variants that wreak greater destruction in humans. SARS and MERS did not exhibit this sort of tendency. They are worried of being found guilty of this global tragedy, I guess..

Think about it. even if they are not guilty they might also plant some "evidence" in the labs whilst they are doing the checks or have other agenda during the performance of the check for eg. stealing confidential information. If not why do you think US also reject any check?

Why don't WHO go investigate massive US "vaping death" in July 2019 (whose lungs CT scans are exactly like CoVid death) and Fort Detrick virus leak (that caused it to be shut down in Aug 2019)?
The world have the right to know what actually happened in US just before CoVid-19 after WHO had already investigated China twice isn't it? What is the point of investigating a third time while ignoring all the anecdotal evidence in other places?!
