very, very nice.
perhaps 1 day I also send a 3570k down if I go nuts over overclocking!
have an oc 3570k chip at about 72 degs hottest core at 1.29v prime stable 2h(dota/sc2 stable >6h!), another non-oc 3570k which is around 50+ degs at load.

with delid prob can drop down 10 or more degs!

Yes, it can go down average 12 to 18 degrees.
Old chip is harder to delid, as you can see the pic the intel heatspreader clamping area already bent in due to its pressure from the LGa socket clamp.

if you need expertise in soldering or servicing your System.
Jonathan, he was the one who soldered back the cap on Haswell chip
Added some info...
Just side track a bit, I went to visit 2 well known Guys, Derrick and former Service engineer Jonathan from CDL. One of the best after sales service from CDL(even all the technicians at SLS talk about) .
They're out on their own, and they're the Boss now!
I heard that they will offer Gigabyte products and "Rma" service in the east, Bedok central(opposite Public Library). Mobile Phones too. Very convenient to those in the East.
Some pictures:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Getting ready! besides the Bedok clinic and a salon.

OMG. I saw Derrick shu shu there:eek:

nice chip u have! not to worry, as I have done on Haswell 100% perfect for all the guys here at Hwz and Vrzone, except my own 1st chip.
Haswell is even more tougher than Ivy!

You got a good chip, no need to delid. :)

Cyberwave's came with the BNIB Asus M6H bundle 4670K on 15th Nov 2013.

Delidded on 16th Nov 2013.

Benedict's came with the Biostar bundle with 3570K on the 18th Nov 2013.

4670K Lacquer 3 coatings applied yesterday, both ready to apply Liquid pro and Silicone to seal, and clamped into the sockets of both mobo.

Cyberwave's 4670k Heatspreader inside polished with 1500Grit

Benedict's 3570k chip collected on the 19th Nov 2013.
Tested and posted on the other blue camp.

Hey thanks man, very professionally done up! My 3570K running so much cooler now on air cooling, can't wait to see even greater difference in temps when my H100 arrives too :D

Thanks for your support :) glad you make a right decision and courage in doing so.
In the end, u r a happy man :D with the temp way much cooler by chopping off average 15degC.

Hi spyboy48,

The topic of delidding is very interesting, I have a friend complaining of 80C temps on his Haswell chip and was thinking of recommending him to delid as well.

I am curious on the process, you post pictures of showing the reflection of the heatspreader using the coin - what does this signify?

Will the heatspreader still be used or you recommend a direct contact between CPU cooler and the CPU die?

Hi Yude82 :)

underneath the surface, very rough and polishing only was done as I do not want to remove too much.

Additional service by polishing away the thermal paste Stain and very grainy IHS. You can see after the polishing, to reveal how rough the surface is...lines of roughage

Only Xeon heatspreader is more refine and smooth, sometimes certain batch they used Xeon ihs on it.

Busy few days ago, both of their BNIB Boards and chips, 4670K.
ThatdumbDoor and Fragrantbiscuit were certainly and earnestly prepared for their chips to be delidded.
Label it D & F so as not to mix up.

Both collected on the 30thNov2013. Enjoy! n Cheers :)
One more chip in the operation room now :D

Can be removed out after 2-3days, silicone needs to be cured.
Or u can just leave it there.
U have to take that risk for warranty :D but usually no issues, as long there are no physical defects.

Pm you with details :)
Best to use Gelid extreme or MX4 thermal paste on your heatsink. I bought it from Cybermind.
For the delid, I used Liquid pro on the inside of the bare core to IHS.

Liquid Pro is not advisable to use on your Heatsink, it will leave a silver stain on it. Furthermore, very hard to clean unless you used "Astonish" with water. Already tested and proven by me, just apply on the chip with a bit of water in circular motion. Rinse with water only. All the intel marking on the chip remains as it is.:D

ChickenRapist's 4670K bundle came on Sunday 1st Dec and collected on 3rd Dec 2013.
ks0.gif

Very rough!

Lacquer coatings 3 layer as an insulation against Liquid Pro from coming into contact with.
And sand the IHS as you can see the 4 corners are sitting on the PCB, leaving extra gaps between the core and the IHS. And lightly polished the inner IHS to make it smooth, so much roughage u can feel with your finger nails.

Before and After!

Almost forgotten to take pic...
With the delidded chip inside the Lga slot on Msi Z87 GD65 gaming mobo :D

I have noting but compliments... Professional yet friendly transaction... He even took time to throughly explain to me what he'll be doing to the chip and etc... And also gave advice on RMA stuffs in case needed... It's rather unnerving to pass someone something worth that much, but he's someone you can really trust... Thank you spyboy48... And the added photos are a nice touch... =)
