Do not install MIUI 12 R (android 11) update on China ROM

My Redmi Note 10X 4g(merlin) had MIUI 12.0.8.0 on china rom and everything was running smoothly. Then yesterday I got an OTA update for MIUI 12.0.5.0 I should be not updated. Big mistake. As soon I updated, google play services stopped working. I tried factory reset, install google play services but it just doesnt work.

Now I have installed all apps using APK. Some apps like Socash dont work without google play services unfortunately

I am not able to unlock my bootloader. I did everything. But the Mi_unlock.exe app doesnt recognize my phone, so I am pretty much stuck now. Also the XDA forum, mention cannot downgrade from MIUI 12.0.5.0 or higher or else it will brick the phone.

I made some progress after reading the XDA forum. I managed to get my laptop recognize my phone in bootloader mode, after updating drivers in the windows device management. Thanks for the tip.

Now I need to wait for 162 hrs to unlock the bootloader.

I managed to unlock bootloader and flash global rom using Mi Flash tool. So happy, my phone is now perfect, even better than before.

I just realized the MIUI version which has Q in it is based on android 10 and the one that has R in it is based on andriod 11.

I had received an update in my China ROM to move from Q to R, the MIUI version number sounded like a downgrade 12.0.8.0 to 12.0.5.0, but they have a lower number for android 11.

Anyways, I think they have made the change in this R version to disable to play services working in China ROM. So, yeah, do not update to the R version. Just stay on the Q version, if you want to continue on China ROM.

Just sent my mi11 Ultra back to Xiaomi China ..Mi account is a big hassle, tried to link my mobile number to the phone..requested for sms verification, but cannot receive. tried to request through my wife's phone, she also cannot receive. Hard reset hoping to clear the info. now device is locked requesting for password which i never even set. After sales support is screwed up from Xiaomi Sg. At least Xiaomi Global helped over the past 1 mth. too bad.gonna sell off the phone once it comes back from China..$1300 new Ceramic brick

Oops, that is strange. So was it a fresh sealed set? Did you sign up for Mi account or log in using your old Mi account?

If not, it looks like your phone is already associated with a Mi account, which is not right.

Its a new set. The thing is that i tried to usr my phone n register /link the number to the phone. But got stuck at verifying thr number/creating password, but the number got linked to the phone.. So thats what pissed me off..i kept explaining to xiaomi global/sg, all kept giving me the standard copy paste procedures which had to do with sms verification which I cant receive
