Dr Leong Hoe Nam: Now need at least 90% vaccination, which is technically not possible due to hardened anti-vaxxers or refusers

Leong Hoe Nam, an infectious diseases expert from Singapore's Rophi Clinic, said the Delta strain had moved the goalposts, in terms of what level of community vaccination was necessary.

"They set a target of 80 per cent, which is too low … it would have worked fine for the Alpha strain but this is Delta, a variant with easily two to three times more transmissibility," Dr Leong said.

Dr Leong said 80 per cent was "not good enough because it can still burden the hospital system very significantly and there will be too many excess deaths".

"The numbers are mind-boggling, given what's possible over the next few weeks," he said.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison set a vaccination target as part of his four-step opening plan for Australia, with phase C triggered when double vaccination reached 80 per cent.

However, Australia's threshold is actually lower because it is based on the population aged over 16.

Singapore's threshold is based on the total population.

If 81% is not enough and makes zero difference, what is another 15% going to do?

Either this guy is being pressured to shill for Faizer, or his certs are from Uptron ACL.

If he cannot stop or prevent infection, having 90% vax does not fix the problem.
More people will be unaware that they are infected and there will be more community spread.
That is unless his hidden agenda is to get every single sinkie to be infected.
That is the ultimate objective for his virus experiment.
Is this the CLEAR PLAN ?

Just more rubbish and goalpost shifting.

Later 90% reached still spread like siao, say we need 95% because children cannot be vaxxed.

Then need 100%, then 80% booster, 90% booster.

It's never ending. They don't know what else to suggest other than to keep jabbing.

Agreed. Since babies and infants cannot vaxxed;
How to acheive more than 90%?

Since Singapore's threshold is based on the total population. Babies and infants already more than 10% unvaxxed.

Might as well set 100% and mandatory. Unvax then go jail

even 100% vaccinated the spread will still be almost the same. Already said, the jab does not offer sterilizing immunity. If reduce to mild symptoms with no long lasting effects is good enough already.

Doctor is not objective in saying this. Isn't is the case where vaccinated people also fall ill and need oxygen ? What happen to his logic in this situation here ?

Stop lying to the public.
Having a higher vax percentage will not make any difference since it will also gift more daily cases as of now.
More daily cases will create more burden to the healthcare system which is already happening now AFTER we achieved 80% vax.

So, who are you kidding ?
If 90% dun make it, how about 95% ?
Stop playing with human lives.
Why they want to spread the virus to all is truly mindboggling. Aren't those who need the booster jabs already long overdue?

And don't forget those who jabbed earlier may have greatly reduced efficiency...so...we are probably not really 80% protected
