And these farkers sure know it that the Japs just wrapped up their mission and left the nearby Ketapang kabupaten. (just on Tue, 29 Sept)

Yes, the Japan Self-Defense Forces officially concluded their aerial firefighting mission in Indonesia on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. [1, 2]

Mission Overview
    • Operation: Three Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) CH-47 Chinook helicopters were deployed to assist with severe forest and land fires in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. [1, 2]
    • Firsts: This deployment marked the JSDF's first-ever overseas firefighting and disaster relief operation of its kind. [1, 2]
    • Timeline: The helicopters arrived aboard the transport ship JS Kunisaki on September 10, 2026, launched operations on September 16, and wrapped up on September 29 after more than two weeks of activity. [1, 2, 3]
    • Impact: During the deployment, the aircraft completed over 40 aerial firefighting missions and dropped approximately 220 tonnes of water on the blazes. [1, 2]

Meaning we gonna get it soon?

Not say gonna get it soon or what......that means there will be more smoke haze in that region, and so if in future there will be unfavourable winds then we will get it.
And we surely will have unfavourable winds, coz Oct tends to affect Kalimantan and bring it to us more......higher probability. Based on 2015 experience as well.

Looks like the smoke got delayed a bit, early morning still not here yet. Need to wait for the SE winds to really blow at noon time.

Smoke shd have reached. But it seems like it has been mostly thrusted higher up into the atmosphere coz the surface wind is coming from the north. But the plume is actually moving SE to ESE.
So what is happening is that there are 2 layers and the surface winds are flowing in fresher air while the upper layer is trying to mix with it, so semi-hazed now.

But we have seen this before in the past and also past seasons, resulting in a pretty orangey sun even at noon time.

ps. Really gotta have those SSE or SE surface winds if you want to see higher levels.

Seems like not only 4-5 new hotspots, but many of them now. Used to be free of hotspots after the rains.

And the IOD (more for Sumatra), SOI (more for Kalimantan) and El nino can only head towards peaking from now on........
