1. At 20, he was just a kid. Of course, it's relative. Edmwers who are in their twenties might not think so, but a lot of us here are old enough to be a 20 year old's father, and we think that's a kid.
2. He's from a poor country. Had the good fortune to be awarded a scholarship. Upon graduation, he would be offered a very good career path in Singapore. His parents must have been so happy. And now, he blew it. He did not know how to face his parents. The thought of their faces...the disappointment, maybe his mother crying too, was too much for him to bear. Remember, he was only 20.
3. He had not reached the age of a full grown adult who had far bigger responsibilties in the corporate world, who would need a lot more shiat to want to kill himself. His was a kid's world, and he saw things through the eyes of a 20 year old...from a poor country. Having said that, a 59 year old man leapt from a block of flats in Choa Chu Kang recently, leaving a photo of a woman and a suicide note that said: Cheat money. So even adults...and this was supposed to be a very mature adult...could also commit suicide, if they find their problems/worries/concerns/fears are too overwhelming. You can say "strawberry" but you need to walk a mile in their shoes to understand why they ended their lives.
