Success has many fathers, but failure is an orphan.
When a country is relatively successfully economically, such foreigners will be quick to claim credit for their "contributions". But at the first sight of trouble, they would be the first to flee as evident at the onset of the pandemic in Singapore.
But they're working in Singapore mostly not because they love the country and want to see it prosper. They're here because of what Singapore offers to them - a good salary, stability and security.
Essentially, they are not here to "contribute" to make Singapore succeed. They are here merely as opportunists, and to claim it as a contribution and demand certain rights as a result of that is disgusting.
Not all foreigners are like that - there're definitely good ones around but if we get too many of the mercenary, hypocritical ones, then it doesn't augur well for the rest for us.
