MOM have cracked down several such mal practices. Used to have hold back 24 hour shifts, only 1 rest day per month etc. However some APO companies still practice 1 off day every 13 days.

As for hot sun & rain will depend on your posting. Some postings are everyday in aircon environment. So cold till you need to wear a jacket.
That's insane. 13 days and 1 off.

heard work 7 to 8 days shift in a row. shag die. super high turnover.haha. under hotsun and rain also work.
Got a fren just joined 1 month ago, now become sibei tanned. He told me the roster quite jialat need to work 8 to 10 days straight then got off. Very highturn over rate.

Working 8-10 days is still not so bad. The worst part is they require you to work 12+12 hours shift in 1 shot.

To give you a picture of how it happens. Below are 2 scenarios.

1) Monthly roster given to you depicting your work & off/rest days. Your In-Charge tell you which off/day you are required to come back work.

2) Just before your off/rest days, your In-Charge inform you your off is cancelled and you must come back work.

That's why officers end up working 13 days etc despite you have a nice roster that meet MOM requirement.

  3. Sea Ports (S & A)
  4. Land Checkpoints (C & A)
  5. Secured valuables logistics
  6. Training
  7. Ad Hoc

all got sites allowance? how abt k9 unit any allowance? $50?

Despite so much negativity about the job, many still stay on many years. Dun be surprised officers served for 40 years!!!

Below are some reasons. Some may agree or disagree.

1) All 3 companies take care of officers rice bowl. No hire & fire policy.

2) Though pay not high but definity not low. Can afford an average or above average standard of living.

3) Though working hours are long but little stress.

4) Despite many outsiders look down on the job, officers know they have a true meaning to serve. In the event of contigency, APOs are the first line of defence. Bank robberies & covid have proven that. So far there is no cowardice reported from APOs

Right now the market is bad. lots of ppl need a job for a living or to feed their family. Many degree holders or above that couldnt find good jobs also turn in to apo.

The money is good if you can tahan the long hours.

Job market opening up. Getting better than covid times.
