[GUIDE] RMAing your Non-Convergent EVGA products

As we all know that EVGA is now offering International warranties, and sometime ago a lot of questions rose up whether Convergent will be taking care of the RMA process whenever the product fails. There was no concrete answers back then till now.

First of all I would like to applaud EVGA's online support, it is superb though there might be some hiccups along the way they will see to it that your problem gets solved in as easy and comfortable to you.

Now back to the RMA, I found out right from the horses mouth (EVGA and Convergent) that Convergent is not obliged to help in RMAing the product. It is with Convergent's discretion if they are going to help you with your RMA or not. For my case they did not :hat1: but I don't blame them as they have a business to run and some other RMA to tend to.

Assumption/Requirements
1) you have an EVGA account
2) your product should be registered before its 30th days from purchase to enjoy 3 years warranty

So here is the guide:

1) First of all if you need to submit a ticket to EVGA for online support (this will be needed when you create your RMA as they need a support ticket)
2) Once you and the support engineer found out that your product will need RMA then you start doing the RMA
3) in the product details of your account you can submit an RMA
4) once you are done you will be given a pdf to print, this is for the labeling of your product for mailing
5) if you started your RMA in the US region most likely the address is pointing to the USA address but fret not here is what you need to do next
6) email CSMailTW@evga.com and give them your RMA id
7) they will contact you (superbly fast usually within a day) and they will ask you for information and will send you a pdf again containg the correct address in Taiwan

8) print the pdf and pack your product securely with bubble wraps and everything and send it to Taiwan
9) I used Singpost normal delivery as I am poor :buai: and sending my GTX 660 which almost weighs almost to 1KG due to packing cost me around S$26.
10) the package arrived in Taiwan less than a week.
11) once EVGA receives your product the status will be shown in the webpage of your product details and the status is "Preparing to ship the product".
12) if after 3-5 days the product RMA status has not changed you can email CSMailTW@evga.com again for the status. they are very friendly and will try to inform you of the status. the good thing about contacting EVGA is that in their reply mail you can see who to email to if you are unhappy with their support. This I say is world class support.
13) once your product is shipped you can again see it in your product page and with it is the tracking number where you can track it and just relax and wait for your product to arrived

updated:

14) once your gpu arrives you check first if the serial# is new (this is important as all RMA should have new Serial#) if not then you cannot use the old Serial# for RMA as it is already marked as RMA
15) in registering your new GPU's serial# please choose in
Place Purchased:"EVGA RMA" <--- use this and dont use Amazon or where you originally bought it.
16) Once you have registerd your new GPU then Unregister the old one.
17) that all folks

I endorse this thread! This thread should be stickied. Thank you for compiling this for all other EVGA consumers to see! ;)

I've RMAed my malfunction graphics card not long ago, EVGA International Warranty is indeed legendary! :)

Conflicting info
EVGA launches simplified serial-based global warranty program - TechSpot News

EVGA's warranty is now bound to each product's serial number. In other words, the company's standard three-year warranty is applied to items with no action required by customers, no matter how they got the part.
...
Some other vendors won't honor warranties if the item is bought from or moved to another country, but EVGA doesn't care: "An EVGA product is covered under warranty, no matter where you live. If you purchase a product in another country, you will be served by your local warranty center."

Info from my old eVGA thread

EVGA | Articles | New EVGA Warranty

Introducing the New and Improved EVGA Global Warranty

EVGA stands firmly behind its entire product line. Products purchased on or after July 1st, 2011* will have a minimum of a 3 year warranty, registration is optional. The warranty will no longer be non-transferable, and new bonuses will be available for those that do register within 30 days of purchase!
Product warranty covers the product, not the user.
Registration is no longer required for RMAs.
Step-Up and Extended Warranty will be available for all original owners registered with the new global RMA system within 30 days of purchase.
If you move, you can send your product back to your local warranty center no matter what region you purchased it in.
A new Standard Cross-Shipping RMA service is free**.

* Recertified and 1 Year Warranty products are not included.

** A credit card will be required for this service to hold in place until EVGA gets the defective card back.
Stay tuned for more details coming April 2nd, 2012!!!

Original owner can benefit from DOP start of warranty next and succeeding owner will be referred to the manufacturing dare of the product... And it is still serial base.

the information that Mac quoted I believe are from a long time ago when they started to implement it. but now it has changed, and as per them they will continue to change it for the best of their customers.

quote taken from EVGA website

Please Note: As EVGA strives to honor the best warranty in the business, we have and will continue to make policy changes. Make sure you read this document carefully and check back for updates. EVGA reserves the right to change this policy without notice. Last update 4/2/12.

so to make a long story short

non-local=rma will be to taiwan
local = rma will go to local distro

In a sense, if the savings is more then the shipping cost...only then is worth to get non local set.

To make matters simple, I hope local distros strive to give a competitive price that everyone will just buy local.

Sometimes the savings overseas are just simply mind boggling. Take my Thinkpad X230. After freight and taxes, I paid only $1k. Half the price here. Spoil, buy another 1. Don't spoil, I save $1k. Worth the risk.

However, never buy parallel import cars. Warranty as good as non-existant and insurance also cost more.

I was at a post office yesterday and saw many amazon boxes there.

Just rma my 580soc, cdl loaned me a 580 so i have no downtime... Of course this does not happen all the time but it does give credence to purchasing locally...

EVGA have what they called "Advance RMA" where in they will send you the replacement in advance while your GPU is being sent by you.

well this does not replace the realtime loan taht you get from the distro and to add you need to pay for the Advance RMA...not really sure how it works I never tried

So if i buy an EVGA card from local distro, just RMA to them and will support lifetime warranty?
