Hi everyone, need your kind help to help me to figure out what to do

End Goal: My Laptop (Lenovo Idea 3) connected and extended to 2 LG ultrawide 34 inch monitors screens

Problems and limitations: Lenovo idea 3 Laptop has USBC but not thunderbolt. HDMI to extend to one screen no issue.

Possible solutions? Can I use a docking station to solve this issue? However, I see many docking stations are connected to laptop via USBC, and as my USBC port is non thunderbolt, I am unsure if getting a docking station can output and extend my laptop to 2 screens.

Thank you for your help and looking for any possible solutions.

why cant u use usb c to displayport for one monitor and a hdmi to another monitor? If u are using the idealpad 3 with the latest intel 1245u or the amd processor, the usb c has alternate mode which can drive monitor output native then use the hdmi lor.

if u need more monitors, u can try displaylink adapters which can output 4k. thunderbolt hubs requires thunderbolt. displaylink is a different technology.

Thanks for the feedback, my issue is that my USBC cannot seem to output to HDMI (i have a cable and they cannot detect monitor).

I was thinking, I also have a usb 3.1 port - can I "convert" this port to a hdmi port, or dual hdmi port as a solution to plug in the two monitors?

no, it has to be usb c port with alternate mode. not all usb c port can output graphics, your ideapad 3 is old model? should be usb c port to displayport, not usb c to hdmi. i think only displayport is support.

So meaning it must be usb c to displayport. if ur ideapad 3 is the latest, then it support displayport 1.2.

for all other usb 3 ports to graphics, u need displaylink hubs.

u can get a $4-5 cable off shopee and it should work fine.

Standard Ports • 1x USB 2.0 • 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 • 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 (support data transfer, Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort™ 1.2) • 1x HDMI 1.4b • 1x Card reader • 1x Headphone / microphone combo jack (3.5mm) • 1x Power connector

if ur insisting for hdmi, then maybe this can work.

make sure your usb c has alternate mode.

If the LG monitors support MST daisy chaining over Displayport/USB-C, then it's a non issue. Connect the monitors directly to each other with the correct protocol, and just connect a single USB-C cable to the laptop.

From what I recall, there's no daisy chaining support for HDMI. MST is a DisplayPort standard. I've done MST over Displayport (though with DP and not USB-C cables) a few times without problems.
