My colleague, who was a senior engineer, got "re-designated" to some admin role... become senior assistant director. :ROFLMAO: Pay is still the same.

Depends on company bah

In local banks, they usually have job titles plus corporate rank

Title may include manager but if low corporate rank, pay is quite jialat :(

Let me give you two titles with high pay and no manager title:

Member of Parliament: $200,000 per annum

Mayor: $660,000 per annum

Position open for applications this coming election

No 'manager' in your title better actually because you would have to manage this person that person even if they are from another department.

I rather high pay, else toilet cleaner can just be called sanitation maintenance manager…..construction workers directing traffic by just waving their hands can also be called flow control specialist with the foreman being called onsite specialist manager…

in Intel, principal engineer is equivalent to director but in other semicon, principal engineer is just above senior engineer

Yup. Same here.

A principal engineer at my workplace.. if he chose the management path, will be director of engineering of a module/division. Not a "director" of some admin job.

The next level should be fellow... They are literally consultant/experts.
