Your Itinerary, is quite mash up... Going to North at one point then sudden go south then back to north again.

The pastries you buy is quite wrong also. some pasteries are good in Hong Kong & Some pastries are good in Macau only!!

Did you dare or willing to try Krispy Kreme in Hong Kong?

The fares you paid in total is after taxes or without taxes? How are you going to the city from the airport? Going alone or with your wife or gf?

ggspot may feel it is expensive because he is comparing it to a hostel.

here's my take:
It's a fair deal. HK hotels are NOT CHEAP. I've paid much more than you do for Majestic hotel (surcharge upon surcharge) because of a major exhibition in HK as well as a fair in Canton. (Paid the equivalent of a 4-5* hotel room rate - ?$0.9k for 3D2N).

Also don't forget, you're staying over a weekend when room rates are a little higher.

Someone mentioned that the Majestic is very comfortable. It is NOT.
It is functional but not luxurious as you would expect from a 3 star hotel.
It has a gym (if you can call a threadmill & a stationary cycle in a hotel room a gym). :s13:

But it is still better than the hostel in ggspot recommendations.
You do not need to sleep pushed against the wall.
There is more room.
You get a bath, instead of having to stand to shower by the WC.

It is really up to you to decide your level of desired comfort while on holiday - some like to rough it up, some like to live like a king. Then, you will of course, then get what you paid for.

thanks lowjk,
because when I asked around,
most people only pay 500-600+ for the 4 day 3 night trip, and some even paid only 600+ for a 5 day 4 night with free tickets to this and that and mine is none...only have hotel transfers, not even breakfasts, :(

I've never had complimentary b/f in hk, not that I want it anyway. HK food is too good to waste on a hotel continental b/f.

You must compare like with like, if your friends are going to hk on a Monday to Thursday, it'll be cheaper. If they are staying in a cheaper hotel, it'll be cheaper. Don't forget, stay at Majestic is equal to staying at Orchard Road (even if it is a 3* hotel). Also those who are going for 5D4N might be flying Jetstar, whereas you are flying CX (which gives one of the best service I must add; I was so happy with their service, I've even written in to the managment to compliment the staff).

It is quite impossible to go HK for 5D4N, stay in a 3* hotel and fly CX for $600+ only.

It's okay to pay a little more if you are there to enjoy yourself; imagine making love to your gf/wife and htting the wall because the bed to pushed to the wall because of space constraints. :s13:

It depends on what you want. I paid slightly over $1k in hotel fees alon to stay at HK Disneyland for 3D2N. Overcharged? Hardly. It was the best vacation of my life.

I had to agree with lowjk, Hotels in Hong Kong are expansive. But i am compare the benchmark of the Average Hong Kong 3* Hotels to the BoutiqueS Apartments.

I'm going HKG this weekend, for 1 of the days, I'm thinking of popping by City Gate, followed by Disney (we don't think we'll use the whole day, cos limited time available). Are there lockers for us to hold the barang barang we buy from City Gate? =:p
Cos I'm staying at qq's suggested apartment, don't want to spend too much time travelling to and fro, and City Gate and Disney are pretty near each other.

Experienced folks, kindly advise, tks ya! :D
