Currently for regional haul flights,

Singapore Airport charges like:

Development Levy
Aviation Levy
Security Levy
Passenger Service Charge
Airport Construction Levy

Comes to almost half of an airfare. In the future, Changi will Levy Sustainable Aviation Fuel Levy

Less expensive to go via Senai if it has more connection, passengers have time and it can be made convenient in the form of City Checkin like TCAT or HK-Macau-Greater Bay Checkin.

Write to Malaysia Tourism MTPB and perhaps Tourism Johor. If they evaluate in favour, let them proceed with Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia. The upcoming RTS joint immigration complex at Woodlands North can implement it in addition to BSI.

Agreed, the cost of all these "taxes" are adding up to be pretty significant to ignore. Malaysia should sieze such opportunities but as we know, either they don't or are too slow.
So likely we'll be stuck with Changi for a good while still while llst to pay these fees.

I'm drafting and penning to Malaysian Transport Minister, Tourism Minister.

The Singapore levies are outrageous. Even higher than Japan and South Korea.

Wonder how long they will take to tap on this opportunity if at all
Who knows. But, given SIN-KUL corridor, has one of the busiest traffic in the world, Changi Airport leech off tax revenues from Malaysia -bound air travellers.

Ya of course. But there’s a reason why people prefer Changi also.

But worth trying, but then not sure if should have high hopes about happening anytime soon.

At the rate Changi's service is going, if regional competitors actually do improve then not for long that Changi will remain to be the top choice.
Similar to SQ nowadays with all the cost cutting measures here and there, getting pretty annoyed with all these personally. :s22:

The hub status thing resulting in connectivity not easy to overcome for others.

Yes true and agreed, but as the region prosper. If and when they get their act together and do actually improve on facilities and management, it will likely supersede Changi especially with the already "lower" cost & "better" services.

To be honest, as with most things in SG nowadays, we're losing our edge from what I see.
Matter of time of when we start chasing others instead as we get complacent... coupled with our people getting hamstrung in this "competitive" environment that's setup.

Yes, for sure.
But with the service standard dropping this much, not that confident that we can keep up. Speaking of which, I just experienced some paggro service when checking-in and moreover this is not the first instance from them.
Thus, my comment that the standards are abysmal with no confidence we can sustain the "premium" price tag further..

Hmmm.

Perception of service standard is subjective so not sure if it’s universally perceived that way.
